Canstmction Tesling and Inspection
Inspector Josh N irabella conducted a general special inspection of concrete basement walls at the
property. Compressive strength of the walls was estimated using a Schmidt hammer and the condition and
location of reinforcing steel was determined using a Hilti Ferroscanner. Plans below indicate locations at
which the Schmidt hammer was used with teal Xs and locations scanned for reinforcing steel with red
lines. See below for more details on each inspection.
Compressive Strength
At three separate locations on the walls, 12 tests were conducted in a 3x4, one in' grid. Excluding
outliers, the 12 tests were averaged to obtain an estimated strength. Then the three averages were again
averaged to obtain an estimate for all walls.
Location 1 estimate:7200psi
Location 2 estimate: 4100 psi
Location 3 estimate:4500 psi
Averaged estimate: 5300 psi

Reinforcing Steel
The walls of interest (as marked on the plans) were scanned in their entirety (where existing structures
and features allowed) and the determined locations of rebar were marked directly on the wall in red.
Rebar both vertical and horizontal was estimated to be at least #4 bar at all locations. Vertical rebar
appeared to be spaced at two -foot intervals. Horizontal rebar in the bedroom appeared to be also spaced at
two -foot intervals, but switched to one -foot intervals in the bed room, media room, hallway, and
bedroom. All rebar appeared to be between 3 and 5 inches under the surface.
The footings below the wall could not be scanned due to their size, but at one location rebar is visible
sticking out and it is suspected that there is similar rebar throughout the footing.
