I am checking to see if Edmonds would be okay with an above ground enclosure for a DCDA installation
within the ROW. We are requiring Edmonds approval of this, but I am not sure if the developer has
reached out to the city to check? 22811 1001" AVE W, Edmonds WA 98020. We had approved the plan
but after some field verification it seems the design wasn't feasible so an above ground installation is
currently proposed.

1. The "hot box" is acceptable for use from the fire marshal's office perspective. However,
there may be city codes that come into play within the planning division's codes. I am not
an expert on the Planning department requirements. I don't want to speak for
Engineering, but it sounded like it would be acceptable if installed in correctly. I do not
recall a discussion regarding moving the back flow assembly unless the Planning
Department doesn't approve for some reason or if its been installed in the ROW.
Just so that you are aware, the fire marshal's office and all city departments work tirelessly to
review plans prior to approving them. We want to approve plans that will allow projects to move
forward successfully and without issue. When changes are made to those approved plans such
as in this case, delays occur. For example, if the "hot box" had been included in the plans or at
very least as a revision after some correspondence with Fire, Engineering and Planning
departments we would not be discussing this now. The City and the Fire Marshal's Office wants
you to succeed. We want you to open and thrive. Things just have to be done correctly. They
need to be done according to the city's codes.
would like to help you move forward. I am willing to start conducting fire related inspections if
you are ready. We can start testing the fire alarm system. We could start preliminary final fire
inspections on the TI permit as well. This will help you get ahead in the process to open. I am
sure the building department would also be willing to assist with inspections as well.
