Project Information- SBAR Submitted and Approved for Project funding SITUATION: Fluid management System at Edmonds OR to meet the states requirements for smoke evacuation and fluid management BACKGROUND: New State law requires smoke evacuation. Historically Swedish Edmonds utilizes ConMed Buffalo filtration systems and this system will aid in maintaining this new expectation. ASSESSMENT: Handling suction containers is not considered best practice and place caregivers at risk for a body fluid exposer. Stryker Neptune is a closed system for contaminated surgical fluids where staff will be better protected. Equipment Training • Stryker Rep will train Clinical Engineering and Surgery staff before machines are put in service. Equipment Maintenance • Clinical Engineering will place asset tags on each unit and track PM schedule with other medical equipment.
