I. MATERIALS:
1) COPPER - TYPE X" TUBING.
2) WHEN STATIC PRESSURE IS LESS THAN 100 PSI, HIGH -DENSITY POLYETHYLENE PIPING WITH
IRON PIPE SIZE ASTM-D2239 AND PE3406 OR PE 3408 MARKINGS. PIPING SHALL BE MARKED AT INTERVALS OF NOT MORE
THAN 5' FOR POLY PIPE WITH MANUFACTURER'S NAME, SIZE AND PRESSURE RATING OF 160 PSI MINIMUM.
WHEN STATIC PRESSURE EXCEEDS 100 PSI, USE POLYETHYLENE PIPING WITH IRON PIPE SIZE ASTM-D2239 AND PE 3408
MARKINGS PIPE WILL HAVE A PRESSURE RATING OF 200 PSI OR GREATER AND BE MARKED AT INTERVALS OF NOT MORE
THAN 5' WITH MANUFACTURERS NAME, SIZE AND PRESSURE RATING.
11. INSTALLATION:
1) THE WATER SERVICE LINE SHALL BE PLACED ON A FIRM UNDISTURBED BASE THAT IS SMOOTHLY GRADED AND FREE
OF LARGE MATERIALS. IF SOIL IS DISTURBED, IT SHALL BE COMPACTED TO PROVIDE A STABLE BASE. THE PIPE DEPTH
SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 18" FROM FINISHED GRADE TO THE PIPE.
2) IF POLY PIPE IS USED, IT MUST BE BURIED WITH A 12 GAUGE SOLID CORE TRACER WIRE WITH VINYL COATING. THE
WIRE MUST BE CONTINUOUS, CONNECTED AT THE METER AND THE HOUSE AND TAPED TO THE SERVICE LINE EVERY 5.
3) IF NATIVE BACKFILL MATERIAL HAS LARGER THAN 3/8" DIAMETER ROCK, AN APPROVED SANDY SOIL SHALL BE USED
TO BACKFILL 1" ABOVE WATER PIPE.
4) THE WATER SERVICE PIPE MUST BE CONNECTED AT THE METER AND BUILDING WITH BRASS FITTINGS (NO PLASTIC,
PVC OR GALVANIZED FITTINGS ALLOWED).
5) ALL PIPING SHALL BE FLUSHED OUT AND BE UNDER PRESSURE WITH NO LEAKS WHEN THE INSPECTION IS
REQUESTED.
6) THE WATER SERVICE LINE SHALL NOT BE BURIED IN THE SAME TRENCH AS THE SANITARY SEWER OR STORM
DRAINPIPE. THE MINIMUM HORIZONTAL SEPARATION FROM WATER TO SEWER SHALL BE 10 FEET. IF FIELD CONDITIONS
PREVENT THIS, CONTACT THE DISTRICT FOR SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS WATER LINES CROSSING SEWER OR STORM PIPES MUST
MAINTAIN AN 18" VERTICAL SEPARATION ABOVE SAID PIPES.

PRIOR TO BACKFILLING ANY PORTION OF THE WATER LINE YOU MUST CONTACT OLYMPIC VIEW WATER & SEWER DISTRICT
