5. PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
I. Update on the online open house and survey and planned outreach activities before the
survey closes on August 16
i. Shared the timeline for receiving response data and summary
II. Commission decided to host an additional meeting on September 17 to discuss public
feedback to date
6. ROUND 2 POLICY IDEAS
I. Each policy committee presented their Round 2 policy ideas for Commission discussion and
questions. The policy ideas presented by each committee were:
i. City Resources Committee:
• Homelessness Prevention Programs
• Eviction Reduction Measures
ii. Incentives & Requirements Committee:
• Multifamily tax exemption program
• Inclusionary Zoning for housing affordability (aka "mandatory housing
affordability for large projects")
iii. Housing Types Committee:
Equity in housing access, policy, and programs.
Note: the committee did not present any formal ideas but discussed
multiple possibilities related to the topic.
iv. Zoning Standards Committee:
• Cluster Housing
• Multifamily Design Standards
• Neighborhood Villages
v. City Processes & Programs Committee:
• Zoning concessions vs. property tax exemptions
• Update the Transportation Element of City's Comprehensive Plan
• Childcare voucher program
II. Committees will continue to meet and work on Round 2 policy ideas
III. The Commission will decide which ideas move forward for additional public input at the
September 10 meeting
7. NEXT STEPS
I. Commission members acknowledged the letter received from residents in the Westgate
area opposing a transition area on their street. The letter will be discussed at the
September 17 meeting.
II. A Fall 2020 look ahead was included in the agenda packet for Commissioner's review
