Trees are outgrowing their locations into the private property side and will continue to deform and encroach into clients landscaping and buildings if left unchecked. It was recommended to perform basic clearance pruning to allow trees to fit location longterm and minimizing any potential damage to private landscaping trees and building. Tree closest to the corner of Bell St and 3rd ave N, smallest of the three. 15 inch dbh, 25 ft tall, 1 Oft spread. Selectively prune branches coming from Hornbeam out of small mountain hemlock in condo planting bed. Create longterm clearance to hemlock by removing entire branches where possible up to 1-2 inch caliper cuts. Majority of branches being removed are mid canopy over condo planting bed. No need for working on sidewalk, material will be taken out through condo property. Middle tree 17in Dbh, 30ft tall 14ft spread. Hornbeam growing over property line and into mountain hemlock and grand fir. Create 2-3ft side and 4-6ftvertical clearance where possible to hemlock and fir. 1 -3 inch caliper cuts and smaller, work to be done over clients planting bed area and material taken out through condo property, no need to work on the sidewalk. Mlchael Montanti ISA certified Arborist PN-6358A 206,931,2062 GivingTreeArbroCare@gmail.com. Edmonds Wa 98026 Third largest tree at corner of condo property next to neighboring building. 21 Dbh 30ft tall 14ft spread. Pruning Hornbeam out of Arborvitae stand and getting as much side and vertical clearance possible for best longterm viability of arborvitae's. 1-3in caliper cuts at most to clear arborvitae's. Pruning hornbeam back from neighbors building 2-3ft side and 4-6ft vertical clearance at minimum to provide correct clearance longterm. 2-4in caliper branches to be pruned back or removed entirely to create clearance specs to building. Work to be done over condo property and neighboring building side. Minimal sidewalk access will be needed to achieve correct clearance pruning for neighbors building but no sidewalk closure needed. Ground crew and cones will be more than adequate to manage any pedestrian traffic for the small amount of pruning needed. Continued clearance pruning will be required of all three street trees to maintain proper clearance to landscaping trees and bushes as well as neighboring building. After initially meeting with John, I advised him permitting might be needed to trim the city street trees and he made all the necessary effort to find out what was needed. Given that these pruning recommendations are minimal for the size of the trees, and are required to preserve multiple owners private property, a pruning permit request should hopefully be granted. I have provided this report to John Olson with the plans of him forwarding it to the necessary city officials to complete the permitting process. Please feel free to reach out if there are any questions or concerns regarding the proposed pruning, our phone number and email are listed below. It has been determined that you may move forward with the pruning provided that you follow the process outlined in the above attached e-mail: John Olson may move forward with Giving Tree Arbor Care in pruning the three Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) street trees that are currently impacting his property. This is the information Jeff Whatmore in Engineering sent: "If a property owner would like to prune the street trees it is allowed with a ROW permit and the company that is doing the trimming would need to be licensed and bonded. They would need to submit an arborist report and a plan for the trimming." I believe this can be done through City Hall on the 2nd floor. Thank you to John for his willingness to work in partnership with the city for this important work. Let me know if you have any more questions and I will do my best to point you in the right direction.
