I grew up painting and drawing anything and everything, my mom was an art docent who let me help her teach classes as a kid, I took every drawing class I could in college - including a study abroad program, and that love of arts has carried through to today. Since finishing my undergraduate in Fine Art at the University of Washington in 2008 I have been working as a photographer. My wedding and portrait photography business has been my full time career since 2015. I would love to be a part of the Edmonds Arts Commission to further my love of the arts through involvement in my community. I eagerly welcome friends and clients into our city as often as possible to show them the murals on Main Street (my favorite is the orcas, and close 2nd is the stork by Salt and Iron). We watch the ferry boats come and go while our kids take time to hug the seal sculptures, and love attending events at Hickman Park and the Edmonds Arts Festival. Our oldest is now entering Kindergarten with the Edmonds School District, where I have previously taught after school programs with ArtWise, and I am a founding member of the district's new Special Education PTSA. Through previous volunteer and advocacy work with other youth programs, I've learned that sharing my love of creative expression via the arts is one of my favorite things. I'm passionate about what I do, believe in building supportive and positive communities everywhere I go, and admire those that volunteer their time in service of others. I would love to join the Edmonds Arts Commission in order to actively participate in our city's arts programs, share my ideas as a business owner in the arts and service industries, and invest my time into this community that I fiercely love. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I have a simple reason for applying for the Commission. I love Edmonds_ Passionately! I moved here 24 years ago from Los Angeles purely as a lifestyle choice. Doing so required giving up a rewarding position as EVP of an animation studio — which was a subsidiary of Disney at the time. I was employed by that company (DIG Entertainment) for 22 years. In addition to having been an entertainment executive. I am an Emmy-winning producer and writer — with extensive screen credits. A full list can be found under my name on imdb.com. Some of the more notable ones are highlighted on my bio. (Attached.) I'm also an active songwriter. composer, arranger and musician. 1 came to Edmonds knowing no one. The only reason I did so was that I believed l would love living here. It has far exceeded my expectations. There isn't a day that goes by that I'm not grateful for this unique community and its many, many gifts. I've been contemplating ways I might "give back" to the city — that might tap into my background; skills and interests. The Arts Commission sounds like it has the potential to be just such an opportunity. To that end — I would welcome an opportunity for an interview — both for you to learn more about me — and for me better to grasp the responsibilities and activities to which I would be committing — were I offered a seat on the Commission. I hope to hear from you — and if not, I wish you success in filling the position.
