CITY OF EDMONDS EDMONDS MEMORIAL CEMETERY BOARD MINUTES OCT 10, 2002 CALL TO ORDER The Edmonds Memorial Cemetery Board was called to order by Greg Sarvis at 3:55 P.M. in Room 113 of Anderson Center. III. STAFF REPORT — ARVILLA OHLDE A. Noting that "695" has finally caught up to the City, Arvilla noted that the Mayor has asked For drastic budget cuts. One-half to two million dollars per year is not being received by The City. B. Arvilla further stated that the mayor has asked for recommendations of people to be cut from the payroll. IV. STAFF REPORT — CLIFF EDWARDS Monthly Year -To -Date Goal A. Oct. Sales 1 24 45 Oct Burials 3 41 55 B. Speakers at the convention were opposed to "scattering", and suggested that cemeteries Include a "scattering garden" inside the cemetery grounds. C. The fish department of the Seattle Public Market was used as an example for all business Personnel to enjoy their work. It was suggested that grounds keepers: 1) Turn their best work into play, 2) Choose their best attitude, 3) Be there, and 4) Make the customer's day. IV. STAFF REPORT — RICH LINDSAY A. After a statement from Rich Lindsay, stating that it would cost approximately $500 per week to rent a backup lawnmower (in the event that our main lawn tractor is in need of repair), it was agreed to keep the Kubota we now have as a backup. B. Pamphlets were distributed showing small in -ground cremation carriers. V. OLD BUSINESS A. Bobbie Sherman outlined the October weekly insertion of the following ad in the Edmonds Beacon and the Enterprise: "Many 4 x 8 burial lots for sale. Edmonds Memorial Cem. (425) 771 4741. Cliff Edwards suggested that we ad "cremation spaces" to the November ad. VI. NEW BUSINESS None VII ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn. (McGuiness/ Stevenson) Carried. Meeting adjourned at 4:55 P.M.
