Engineer's Site Visit Report on Wood Domoge ot Westerly Decks
Dear Isaiah:
This report is an update to our June 12, 2024 report, and it supersedes that report. All changes are in
red.
As a condition of the repair permit, we visited the site to review the condition of the wood framing at
the westerly decks. Localized failures of the plywood deck fascia have resulted in rot damaged beams
and westerly plywood edges.
At all decks, replace bottom plate or plates below 3 1/8 x 12 glued -laminated beams where these plates
show signs of wood rot or significant staining.
Specific recommendations for the deck beams are as follows. Decks are listed from left -to -right and
top -down as observed from the parking lot. New beams may be Doug -fir laminating combination

Office 304 North: Remove damaged wood down to sound wood at westerly end of beam.
Remove and replace plywood at deck corner.
Office 304 West: Replace beam due to substantial deterioration below beam hanger flange.
Remove and replace plywood at deck corner.
Unit 204 North: Replace beam due to substantial damage at beam at end of hanger bucket.
Unit 204 West: Replace beam due to substantial damage to wood supporting and directly
beam northerly beam hanger flange.

required.

All cut edges of deck plywood should be blocked.
Note that depending on how much sound wood remains at Unit 204 North and 401 North, these
two beams may also require replacement. Please have us out to review the remaining sound wood
at these two beams after the rotted wood is removed.
