BLD2024-0473+Other+9.11.2024_3.16.46_PM+44948161 of 8 LONGITUDE ONE TWENTY° ENGINEERING & DESIGN Pile Review for Structural Compliance Date: July 8, 2024 Project Name: 16012 74th PI W - Foundation Stabilization Effort L120 Project # S230718-1XR Project Location: 16012 74th PI W, Edmonds, WA 98026 Client's Name: Delaney Doherty, Project Coordinator— R&R Foundation Specialist, LLC To whom it may concern, The purpose of this letter is to confirm helical and driven pile installation and capacity compliance with the structural requirements specified in the L120 Structural Calculation Package and Structural Site & Foundation Plan dated September 20, 2023. On June 24, 2024, one (1) driven concentric piles and eighteen (18) helical piles were installed by R&R Foundation Specialists (R&R) to stabilize the residence at 16012 74th PI W. To the knowledge of L120, these piles were installed by R&R certified installers in accordance with the cited structural package, ESR-3750, and ESR-4121. Please refer to the attached drive log provided by R&R. With pile spacing at a maximum of 6'-0" on -center, the minimum required vertical capacity as determined by L120 was an allowable loading of 6.0 kips and 8.0 kips. These demand requirements are as determined and specified in L120's structural calculation package cited above. As required by the referenced structural package, proof testing was to be performed to 200 percent of the specified design load. It is L120's understanding that the installers utilized the dead weight of the existing structure to achieve the required reaction of a test pile. Pile capacities for Ideal Manufacturing, Inc. helical piles have been calculated utilizing the torque correlation factors provided in ESR-3750. A torque/capacity chart detailing this calculation has been attached to this letter. Per the attached document, an Ideal Foundation Systems 2-7/8 in diameter 6k helical pile installed to a minimum pressure of 1,000psi results in an installation torque of 3,108 ft-lbs and an allowable capacity of 14.0 kips including a safety factor of 2. Pile capacities for Stabil-Loc, Inc. concentric driven piles have been calculated with the working pressure and effective area of the hydraulic cylinder utilized for installation. A pressure/capacity chart detailing this calculation has been attached to this letter in addition to the product data for the hydraulic cylinder used. Per the attached documents, a 2-7/8"0 driven pile installed with a Power Team C25C Hydraulic Cylinder, at a minimum pressure of 3,000psi, results in an ultimate capacity of 7.7 kips. 2 of 8 The results are summarized below: Helical: Maximum Demand (allowable) = 8.0 kips/pile Available Capacity (allowable) = 14.0 kips/pile Concentric Driven: Maximum Demand (allowable) = 6.0 kips/pile Available Capacity (allowable) = 7.7 kips/pile By inspection, the pile capacities of the installed helical and driven piles exceed the maximum loading demand or reached refusal as determined by L120's analysis. Therefore, the installed piles comply with the structural design/demand. Please contact us if you have any questions. Sincerely, Peter Modica, P.E.
