At the south end of the soldier pile wall, a steel sheet has been added to retain any future sloughage from the hillside. The plate is a 3/a" thick piece of steel having nominal dimensions of 9-feeet in height and 6-feet in width. 4 separate pieces of a C 12x30 steel were cut to provide support of the 3/4-inch thick steel sheet. On June 6, 2024, Mike Roberts met with representatives of Strider Construction Greyrock Drilling to discuss the planned work. A clarification to the design, showing the dimensions for the length of the C 12x30 steel gusset to the 3/a" steel sheet was clarified with Hansen (Engineer of Record) and Shannon & Wilson (Geotechnical Engineer). Welding was conducted by Dave Sjogren of Greyrock Drilling. The attached sheet shows the as -constructed end treatment. All welded areas were ground clean and weld beads where clean and consistent, with all welds being cleaned after welding. Inspection of the welds was visual. Mike Roberts was on site during this operation and confirmed the layout of the gussets met the intent of the design change. A copy of the redlined design change is attached to this report. A vertical weld was added to the design that welded the steel plate to the steel H-pile to improve strength at the point of attachment to the H-pile. Following the installation of the four gussets, the top of the steel H-pile was field cut to match the concrete panel, and the steel panel was also field cut to match the height of the wall. This reduced the overall height of the steel sheet from 9-feet to approximately 7.5-feet in height. In my opinion, the welding is acceptable, and no additional work is needed. J.
