NEW STEEL SIDE PLATES WILL BE INSTALLED TO ASSURE THE GRAVITY LOADS ARE SUFFICIENTLY TRANSFERRED FROM ONE BEAM TO THE OTHER IN THE REMAINING GOOD MATERIAL. THE DRY ROT PORTION OF THE BEAM WILL REMAIN IN PLACE AND THE CONTRACTOR WILL LOCATE THE SOURCE OF MOISTURE PENETRATION IN THE HANDRAIL ABOVE AND SEAL THE EXTERIOR FINISHES ACCORDINGLY.
