A/S SYSTEM DESIGN INTENT NOTES
1. MODIFY EXISTING SPRINKLER SYSTEM FOR RENOVATED SPACE.
EXISTING BUILDING IS PROTECTED BY WET PIPE A/S SYSTEM.
PROVIDE RENOVATION TO EXISTING A/S SYSTEM TO MEET TENANT
LAYOUT PER REQUIREMENTS OF NFPA 13.
2. SPRINKLER DESIGN DENSITY SHALL BE LIGHT HAZARD IN ALL AREAS
EXCEPT STORAGE CLOSETS AND ELECTRICAL / MECHANICAL ROOMS.
THESE ROOMS SHALL HAVE A DESIGN DENSITY OF ORDINARY HAZARD
GROUP 1 OR HIGHER AS REQUIRED BY NFPA 13.
3. DO NOT ROUTE SPRINKLER FEED BULK MAIN OR CROSS MAIN ABOVE
ELECTRICAL ROOM(S).
4. REFER TO ELECTRICAL PLANS FOR POWER CONNECTIONS TO FLOW
AND TAMPER SWITCHES.
5. SPRINKLER PIPING TO BE SCHEDULE 40 STEEL FOR 2" AND SMALLER,
SCHEDULE 10 THIN WALL FOR 2-1/2" AND LARGER.
6. FIELD VERIFY ELEVATION OF ALL A/S BULK MAINS AND BRANCH LINES.
RAISE EXISTING A/S BULK MAINS AND BRANCH LINES AS REQUIRED TO
ENSURE LINES ARE ABOVE NEW CEILING HEIGHTS.
7. FIRE SPRINKLER SHOP DRAWING PLANS SHALL BE PREPARED BY A
FIRE SPRINKLER CONTRACTOR LICENSED IN THE STATE. THE
SPRINKLER CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT THE SPRINKLER SHOP
DRAWINGS, HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS, AND MATERIAL DATA TO THE
A/E FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL. THE A/E APPROVED PLANS WILL BE
SUBMITTED TO THE CITY FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL PRIOR TO
INSTALLATION OF ANY SPRINKLER WORK.
8. PROVIDE QUICK RESPONSE SPRINKLERS THROUGHOUT BUILDING.
A. RECESSED PENDANT HEADS IN ALL AREAS WITH FINISHED
CEILINGS COORDINATE EITHER CHROME OR FINISH TO MATCH
ADJACENT CEILING FINISH WITH ARCHITECT PRIOR TO
INSTALLATION.
B. BRASS UP -RIGHT HEADS IN ALL AREAS WITH UNFINISHED CEILINGS
AND BUILDING SHELL AREA FOR FUTURE TENANT SPACE
RENOVATION. PROVIDE HEAD GUARDS IN ELECTRICAL ROOM(S),
MECHANICAL ROOM(S) AND STORAGE ROOM(S).
