Cliff reported that Max and Riley will help put out the flags on the day before Memorial Day. Rich
Romaro will help on Memorial Day.
The cemetery ad will be in the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce Directory that comes out in
December. It will not be in the Mount Lake Terrace book.
Rich Lindsey
Dave took care of the dandelions using Speed Zone at a savings to us.
In the Budget, the $5000 to paint the railings this summer wasn't in the final city budget. It left
when the Financial Director left. But there is $3000 in the Interfund Services Budget. Blake will be
paid from Rich's budget. We might be able to use some of the $6860 in the Supply Budget to paint the
railings. Maybe we will paint part of the railings this year and the rest next year.
Rich will have the Facilities Department clean the moss off the cemetery building and also clean off
the fiberglass cover by the office.
OLD BUSINESS
The Cemetery Board will participate in the Edmonds Senior Center Health Fair on April 29th from
10:00-2:00. The cost of half of a table is $75 for a non- profit group. Melissa will set up a laptop
computer with a Power Point presentation.
presentation on a loop. There will be a trifold board to advertize the Memorial Day and Walk Back in
Time events. We will also have price lists, self guided tour maps, and other handouts. Set up time is
Friday before 9:45 AM. Melissa, Bob, Melinda, and Cliff will work at the Health Fair.
For the Saturday Market on May 14th, we will use Dale's tent. We will use The Walk Back in Time
banner as the backdrop. Lisa will get the dates on it changed. We will use the same materials that we
used for the Sr. Center Health Fair. Bob and Melissa will set up at 7:45-8:OOAM. Melissa and Melinda
will work from 9:00-11:30 and Lisa, Sally, and Esther will work from 11:30-2:00.
For The Memorial Day update, Dale, Sally, and Patrick have met several times. In case of rain,
the canopy can be used on the east side and there will be a tent for the Vocal Volunteers and one for the
Brass Quintet. Lisa took care of the sound system contract. Patrick is in charge, Sally is his
assistant, and Dale is the MC. Dale will try to make it faster than last year. Fred Apgar has had one
call from a Gold Star family --The Munn family. Dale has updated the Snohomish County casualties since
2001. Dale passed out a draft of the printed program and all spots are filled. Dale will bring the cones
and flags. Dale will contact the American Legion. Dale also passed out a time line for the day's events.
Chris Edwards is the liason for the National Guard, Fred Apgar will do the Remembrance Service.
Mayor Mike Cooper will introduce the dignataries in the crowd. There might not be any sign language
interpreters due to a change of personnel at Seattle Central Community College or due to a lack of
volunteers.
One Cub Scout will lead the Pledge at the flag pole with a microphone. Dennis will blow the whistle. Lisa
moved and Patrick seconded that we buy 3 copies of Betty Gaeng's Etched in Stong book for $30.00.
They are for Michael Reagan, the Memorial Day Chairman, and one for the Cemetery Office. Dale will
arrange their purchase. "Myedmondsnews.com" will spotlight the Memorial Day event. Someone who
does" 365 Things To Do In Edmonds" will video the Memorial Day and the Walk Back in Time events.
Arrival times and responsibilities were discussed. Patrick mentioned that a donation jar is not
appropriate for this event. Dale passed around a library book called In Flanders Field.
NEW BUSINESS
Lisa shared a black and white brochure about Edmonds Memorial Cemetery. It has been replaced by
the color cards.
At the June meeting, we will talk about Marketing and the Survey.
Renee who puts articles in The Craze wants us to think about maybe doing something for Veterans'
Day 2012. Cliff already puts out crosses on Veterans' Day.
