Dear City of Edmonds,
We would like to make an extension for the review for the Davis Deck project at 18504
Olympic View Drive. #BLD2023-1153.
When we started the project the owner wanted the existing deck to be resurfaced so that it
was impervious. This caused more drainage to the site. It took some time to
investigate where the existing drainage is going. The house drainage is connected to pipes
that run west down the bank onto the BNSF Railroad land. Because of the overgrowth of
plants we could not find the exact location and if this drainage path would be doable.
However, we also learned from the BNSF railroad that they do not allow any new drainage
onto their land. This took a few months.
Then the owner decided to see if a Geotech would design an onsite retention system, just
for the new impervious deck area. This took some time to get a geotech out to the site and
then they said that this is not doable on the site. Now the owner said they will leave the
deck as is and just put on new trex so both the old and new deck will be previous so there
will be no new drainage.
Due to this taking many months to investigate these issues and make the next decisions
we will need a little more time for the review process. The Expiration date is 9/12/2024. 1
plan to get the project back into the city within the next few weeks. Please let us know if
you will extend our permit.
Thankyou,
Ester
