The stormwater system was outside of our design and inspection scope. However, implementation of permanent stormwater management infrastructure is essential for ongoing slope stability and therefore is an essential part of the overall project. 1. Erosion Control - Temporary OnTrack has placed and staked jute net over exposed soil surfaces at the Site. The jute net appears to be in good condition and performing as intended. OnTrack has also placed and staked straw wattles on the slope downhill (west) of the shoring wall. The previously installed silt fence near the base of the slope at the Site is intact and performing as intended. The jute was peeled back to allow trenching for laying of pipe, then restored after trenches were backfilled and construction was complete. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and specification throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative. We observed a moderate amount of debris on the slope surface below the residence, but all fully within the parcel boundary. In our opinion, temporary erosion control measures have been implemented in general accordance with the Project plans and are functioning appropriately at the Site. 2. Shoring Installation and Monitoring Shoring installation is complete as of 10.18.23 (FR07). 3. Subsurface Drainage Placement Storm water drainage piping was installed today. See Figure 1. • A new stormwater conveyance line was installed from northeast corner of house, wrapping around the north and west side of house. The new stormwater line discharges to the existing catch basin near southwest corner of house. • Downspouts on north and west side of house were tightlined to the new stormwater conveyance line. • All new pipe was 4-inch SDR35, buried at least 18 inches, and embedded in washed 5/8 inch rock • Catch basins were installed at each angle of the new conveyance pipe line. • A catch basin was also installed just south and downhill from the rebuilt deck. • From the existing catch basin near the southwest corner of the house, buried, rigid 4-inch PVC pipe runs parallel to the stairs %-way down the slope to a cleanout port. Downstream from the cleanout, 4-inch flexible polyethylene pipe runs toward the bottom of slope. Others report that the 4-inch flexible pipe discharges at the base of the slope onto a quarry-spall splash pad. • The system was tested by flowing water from a garden hose into each inlet and observing the outfall. No leaks or "bellies" were found in the pipe line. • The stormwater system on the east and south side of the house was not altered as it was outside our construction area. It ties into the system %2-way down the slope near the clean out there. It appears to be functional and intact. Other Site Activities No new cracks were observed in the Niesel residence driveway. Closing: In our opinion, the construction activities observed today will contribute to the stability of the slope at the Site.
