We visited the site today at the request of Eric Miller on behalf of Ms. Carol Rippey to observe construction
monitoring activities located at the above address.
Upon arrival we met with the contractor Eric Miller to discuss the current project. We observed that the deck pier
pad foundation excavations had been completed. The material exposed in the base of excavations consisted of
silty fine to medium sand with gravel that we interpreted as native glacial till soils. We evaluated the completed
deck pier pad foundation subgrade areas with a %:-inch diameter steel probe rod under moderate pressure.
Probing generally yielded penetrations of up to 1 inch which we interpreted to be dense or better conditions and
suitable to support the planned loads.
We have been providing geotechnical consultation and construction monitoring services on a part-time basis. Our
findings and conclusions are based on specific observations made while on site. In our opinion, the foundation
subgrade observed today appears to have been completed in accordance with the approved plans and our
recommendations, and should support the planned loads. We can return to the site upon request to provide
additional consultation.
