Subject: Anthology Senior Living Fire Sprinklers — Final Plan Review Comments

West Coast Code Consultants, Inc. (WC3) has completed the final review of the proposed Anthology Senior
Living Fire Sprinklers project located in Edmonds, WA. Please consider our review in regards to this project
to be complete. This review was based upon the following:
1. Fire protection drawings dated 10/10/22 by Smith Fire Systems, Inc.; sealed and signed by
Nicholas James Scott, Level III (0627-1019-C)
2. Equipment Specifications
3. Seismic Bracing Calculations
4. Hydraulic Calculations
The 2018 International Codes and 2016 NFPA 13 and NFPA 14, as adopted by the State of Washington,
were used as the basis of our review. Specific comments regarding this project are enclosed with this

Project Name: Anthology Senior Living Fire Sprinklers Fire Review by: Jerry Job.
Location(s): 21200 72nd Ave W, Edmonds, WA
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The submitted documents for the above -mentioned project, as outlined in the cover letter, have been
reviewed for compliance with the 2018 International Fire Code and the 2016 editions NFPA 13 & NFPA
14. The following General Comment items do not require a written response although these items will be
required prior to the final approval and acceptance of the system.
OCCUPANCY & BUILDING SUMMARY:
Occupancy Groups: A-2, A-3, B, R-2, S-2
Type of Construction: V-A
Sprinklers: Yes, NFPA 13
Stories: 7
Area of Work (sq. ft.): 156,206 sq. ft.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
1. The fire sprinkler system shall be installed to meet 2016 NFPA 13 & NFPA 14 Standards and Chapter
9 of the 2018 International Fire Code.
2. A stamped approved set of plans and condition notes are to be on site throughout the duration of the
project
3. Not less than one standpipe shall be provided for use during construction and be installed prior to
construction exceeding 40-feet. As construction progresses, such standpipe(s) shall be extended to
within one floor of the highest point of construction. 2018 IFC 3313.1
4. A two-hour hydrostatic pressure test at a minimum of 200 psi shall be conducted and witnessed by
the local AHJ.
5. Have a completed copy of NFPA 13 Contractor's Material and Test Certificate for Aboveground
Piping available for the Inspector at time of the final inspection.
6. A cabinet with minimum of 2 spare sprinkler heads of each type installed in the system and a
sprinkler head wrench(s) shall in provided in a box near the system riser.
7. All control, drain, and test connection valves shall be provided with permanently marked
weatherproof identification signs secured with wire or chain.

A permanently marked weatherproof Hydraulic Design Information sign shall be secured to the
system risers with wire or chain. The information contained on this sign shall comply with NFPA
1325.5.
9. A flow test of the standpipe system shall be performed as detailed in NFPA 14.
10. A permanently marked weatherproof sign shall be secured to the fire department connection
indicating the necessary fire apparatus pump pressure to obtain the minimum water flow and
pressure from the standpipe system as required by NFPA 14.
11. Provide a permanently marked weatherproof identification sign on the riser room door.
12. Hangers and earthquake bracing shall be installed in compliance with NFPA 13.
Corrections and comments made during the review process do not relieve the permit applicant or the
designers from compliance with code requirements, conditions of approval, and permit requirements; nor
are the designers relieved of responsibility for a complete design in accordance with the laws of the state
of Washington. This review is for general compliance with the International Building/Fire Codes as it
relates to the project.
