Mike,
We just finished a group discussion regarding "repair". Our group has determined that replacement of the entire PTAC
unit, minus the sleeve, does not fit the definition of a "repair and is not exempt from permit.
As discussed yesterday. Please apply for the permits via MBP and include the letter from the county.

Eric,
The sleeves are existing, so we are replacing just the slide in unit. (picture attached of existing condition for
clarity).
The handout seems inclusive by saying "any part", and being that we are replacing 'part' of the PTAC, I wanted
to ask the question
Let me now if you need further clarity.
Thanks,

Mike,
I am going to jump in here. What you just explained to Denise is different that what we discussed on the phone. If the
scope is simply to replace internal parts, yes, you are correct. No permit is required. The work description we were
under the impression of, was to replace the entire PTAC unit not internal parts. Please confirm the scope of work.

You don't often get email from.mikes@barronheating.com. Learn why this is important
Denise,
Under City of Edmonds 'Work exempt From a Building Permit', 2b, it states that a permit is not required for
"Replacement of any part that does not alter approval of equipment or make such equipment unsafe". Being
that we are not replacing the sleeves, only the 'guts' part of the PTAC, does this work qualify for the
exemption?
Thanks,
Mike Seymour
