MINIMUM COVER SHALL BE 21 INCHE: DFM BURT Pursuant to your August 8, 2024 review comments, we have performed (2) finite element analyses (FEA) of the SK75 chamber system for the following loading conditions at a minimum cover of 21 inches: HS-25 Highway Truck 40,000 pound single -axle 20,000 pound 10"x 20" wheel loads 72-inch center -to -center wheel spacing Fire Truck Outrigger 43,000 pounds 24"x24" outrigger distribution area 16-ft center -to -center outrigger loads The analyses were performed using CANDE (Culvert Analysis and Design), a finite element program developed by the Federal Highway Administration. The analyses were evaluated in accordance with the design criteria outlined in ASTM F2787 and Section 12 of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications (as modified for chambers per ASTM F2418). We note that at 21 inches of cover there is no interaction between adjacent wheels or outrigger loads.
