Dear Mr. Duggan:
This letter serves as documentation that Terracon has reviewed the Anthology of Edmonds
Structural Plans titled GMP/PERMIT SET, Revision 4 and dated January 3, 2022 that was
prepared by KPFF. Additionally, Terracon had internal communication with KPFF in regards
revision version titles Site Dev. Comments 2 (Rev. E). This request for geotechnical engineering
review that was received on February 18, 2022 from Ankrom Moisan constitutes the first and only
request for review by Terracon. Based on our review, we have suggested the following revisions:
References to the geotechnical report addendums dated September 18 and December
6, 2019. (GEOTECHNICAL CRITERIA, S0.02)
Only dense, native soils are valid for a 5,000 psf allowable bearing capacity and not
structural fill. Lean mix concrete should be used where backfilling to restore grades is
necessary below foundation elements. (GEOTECHNICAL CRITERIA, S0.02)
Due to the variability and of the foundation subgrade elevations and likely method for
excavating the foundations, we recommend continuous observation for the following:
o Verify materials below footings are adequate to achieve the design bearing
capacity
o Verify excavations are extended to proper depth and have reached proper
material
Replace "CONTROLLED FILL MATERIALS" and "CONTROLLED FILL" with
"APPROVED FILL MATERIALS" and "APPROVED FILL", respectively
Add to the remarks: "ALL FILL MATERIALS MUST BE APPROVED BY THE
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER PRIOR TO USE"

Replace: "FILL IN -PLACER DENSITY' with "PLACED APPROVED MATERIALS"

In follow up communications with KPFF and Ankrom Moisan, Terracon understands the
suggested edits presented above have been incorporated into the February 22, 2022 structural
plan set. Therefore, we anticipate that this will be our final request for review. With the exceptions
noted above, this set of plans appears consistent with the recommendations provided in the
geotechnical engineering report and associated addendum letters.
