Geotechnical Hazard Identification/Declaration & Mitigation Statement of Risk from the
Civil Engineer of Record.
Dear Planning and Development:
This letter addresses the provisions of ECDC 23.80 for geologically hazardous areas. The
following observations are based solely on my reading of the geotechnical report and on personal
communication with the project team.
1. In my judgment the plans and specifications prepared by the structural engineer conform
to the recommendations in the geotechnical report.
2. The risk of damage to the proposed development and adjacent properties from soil
instability will be minimized/mitigated by proscribed methods in the geotechnical report
and the proposed development will not increase the potential for soil movement. The
project team has used the best available science and commonly accepted engineering
practices to minimize, to the extent feasible, the risks associated with development of the
property.
3. See final geotechnical report for an evaluation setting forth the statistical probability
(percentage) of earth movement within a 25-year period by on -site improvements and the
measures taken to mitigate the risk or hazard.
4. See final geotech report for an identification of landslide hazards on site, the on -site
measures taken to correct or reduce hazards and measures taken to mitigate potential
impacts from the remaining hazards.

5. See final geotech report for identification of hazards that are not mitigated or where the
risks from deep-seated or large-scale earth movement cannot be practically reduced by
the lot owner, and identification of what hazards cannot be addressed by the proposed
development.
