This form may be used to help establish the percentage of demolition work performed to an existing
home in the course of a remodel. Once demolition has met or exceeded 75% of the value of the existing
home's replacement cost (50% in a flood zone), the structure will be required to be rebuilt to the
standards of new construction. See ECDC 19.00-045

It is important to note that in determining the cost of rebuilding the existing house, the costs are based
on replacing with the same type of modest components. For example, the doors and windows would be
replaced with low cost vinyl windows and inexpensive interior and exterior doors. The cabinetry is
modest, the countertops are laminate, the millwork is basic. The floorings are all either carpet or vinyl.
The plumbing and light fixtures are very inexpensive as well. The exception to this would be the
rooting. The existing roofing is a higher quality SBS modified roof and approximately 55% of the roof is
not being demolished. All these factors were taken into account in determining the value of existing
components.
