Background/History
City of Edmonds adopted its 2024 -2044 Comprehensive Plan on Dec 17th, 2024. This update includes
significant policy changes to meet future growth requirements set by the GMA, PSRC, and Snohomish
County.
To align with new Washington State laws on housing diversity, affordability, and equity, the City must
update its Community Development Code by July 2025.
The City has begun updating a key section of its development code: Neighborhood Centers and Hubs,
which are designated growth areas identified in the Comprehensive Plan.
The City of Edmonds Planning Department has scheduled 3 public events for Edmonds residents to learn
more about the proposed changes and provide input. Councilmembers have indicated that they wish to
attend these walk and talk opportunities.
Recommendation
No Council action will take place during these public events. These events are being noticed publicly as a
Special Meeting if more than 3 Councilmembers attend, which would create a quorum. The public is
welcome to attend this event, and minutes will be recorded.
Narrative
Neighborhood Centers + Hubs Walk & Talks (March 27, 28, 31)
Walk & Talks offer a 90-minute guided walking discussion at designated Neighborhood Centers and
Hubs. The session will focus on the unique characteristics of each area, getting input on opportunities
and concerns. Maps will be provided for written comments, and photos can be submitted to the City
along with feedback.
Participants are encouraged to bring comfortable walking shoes, weather -appropriate clothing, and
cameras to document their observations. Public parking may be limited. We encourage walking or biking
to events if feasible.
