A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHING TON, PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF THE CITY'S
NON-VOTING REPRESENTATIVE TO THE SOUTH COUNTY FIRE
GOVERNING BOARD.
WHEREAS, the City has annexed to the South County Fire RFA effective June I, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.2 of the RFA plan states that the city shall be entitled to one (I) non-voting
position on the Governing Board until January I following the year in which a commissioner is elected
from any newly drawn commissioner district covering some or all of the City's boundaries; and
WHEREAS, this non-voting representative must be either a city employee or a city elected official; and
WHEREAS, the RF A board meets on the same day as the city council, making it inconvenient to appoint
an elected official; and
WHEREAS, the mayor generally supervises the city's employees; now therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
Section I. The city council hereby delegates to the mayor the authority to appoint the City's non-
voting representative to the South County Fire governing board, subject to city council
confirmation.
Section 2. The non-voting representative shall serve at the pleasure of the mayor.
Section 3. The initial term of the non-voting representative shall expire on June 30, 2026, and
may be renewed for an unlimited number of successive one-year terms until the non-voting
representative is replaced with an elected representative from a newly drawn commissioner
district covering some or all of the City's boundaries.
Section 4. In the event that a new appointment or re-appointment has not been timely confirmed
by the city council, the previous representative shall be entitled to continue in the office as a hold-
over until such time a new appointment or re-appointment is confirmed.
