Amending an Ordinance entitled "an Ordinance to prevent ani-
mals from running at large within certain limits of the Town of
Edmonds".
Be it ordained by the Council of the Town of Edmonds.
SECTION 1: That an Ordinance entitled "an Ordinance to pre-
vent animals from running at large within certain limits of theijeuc�
Town of Edmonds", passed by the Council of the Town of Edmonds,
the twentieth day of October 1890, be, and the same, is hereby so 1, 8;
amended as to read as follows: cattle, horses, mules, swine, sheep,
goats and other animals of such species, shall no ,permitted to
run at large, excepting milch cows which may run at large between
the hours of five o'clock A.M. and eight O'clock P.M. Provided,
that no one person shall be allowed to let more than two cows run
during the time above mentioned. Provided, further, that each one
person having two cows running at large, as hereinbefore mentioned,
must be a "bona fide" owner within the following limits of the
Town of Edmonds, viz.
Be ginning at a point at low water mark west of and opposite
the See ion line between Sections twenty-three (23) and twenty -fog
(24), twenty-five (25), and twenty-six (26), Township twenty-
seven (27) of Range three (3) East; thence East on said Section
line to the Northwest corner of the Northeast quarter (4) of the
Northeast Quarter (4) of Section twenty-six (26); thence South
eighty (80) Rods; thence East one hundred and sixty (160) rods;
thence North one hundred and sixty (160) Rods; thence East one hun-
dred and sixty (160) Rods; thence North eighty (80) rods; thence
West to low water mark; thence Southwesterly along the low water
line to place of beginning, the same to be the boundaries of the
Town of Edmonds.
SECTION 2: The Town Marshal or any Police Officer of the (2v4_�L c�u
Town shall take up and impound any of the aforesaid animals found " F
(excepting milch cows which may run at large between the hours of y,, r
five o'clock A.M. and eight o'clock P.M., provided, that no one (/
person shall be allowed to let more than two cows run at large dur-
ing the time above mentioned) running at large within the limits
described in Section One of this Ordinance; and for each day or
part of a day that such animals shall be impounded, the owner
thereof shall pay to the Town Marshal fifty cents (50¢)for the care
and keeping thereof, the further sum of two and 50/100 dollars as
an impounding foe.
SECTI O27 3. If at the expiration of two days the amount so due
shall not be paid, the Torn Marshal shall proceed to give at
least five days notice to be published in the official newspaper
of the town of the time and place where and when he will expose
the said animal or animals to sale by public auction at which time
and place he shall at public auction expose the said animal or
animals to sale and out of the proceeds shall pay all the expenses
aforesaid, and all other necessary expenses, and pay the residue
to the Town Treasurer. The said notice shall describe the said
animal or animals with reasonable certainty, and shall state:to
whom, if anyone, the Town Marshal supposes said animal or animals
belong, and if such owners' name is wholely unknown to the Marshal
that fact shall be stated in said notice. If such owner shall be
known to the Town Marshal and can be found within the Town, a
copy of said notice shall be served upon him at least one day prise
to the sale.
,, O� SECTI01d 4: The Town Marshal shall file with the Clerk with-
G etA,-in five days after such sale, a report in writing, setting forth
all the above matters touching any such sale. Such report shall
be signed by him and (as affecting the validity of any such sale)
7 shall be absolutely conclusive of thefacts therein stated.
�.� [U SECTIOJ 5: For all services not provided for in this Ordi-
1 ance the Town Marshal shall be allowed the usual fees for similar
services payable out of the proceeds of the sale.
SECTION 6: The owner or such animal or animals may have the
-ame delivered to him at any time before the sale by paying all
the accrued expenses; or at any time after such sale, on applica-
tion to the Town Council. Such owner shall be entitled to a war-
rant on the Treasurer for any surplus of such sale paid, -to the
Treasurer, without interest.
o� "� SECTION 7: The owner of such animal or animals may redeem
-6-y a'�he same at any time within thirty days after thesale by paying

the purchaser the amount paid by him for such animal and in ad-
dition thereto one percent per month therefor. All Ordinances
or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 8: This Ordinance shall take effect and be inf orce
from and after its passage, approval and publication.
