An Ordinance providing for closing saloons and other places
where intoxicating liquors are sold, and prohibiting the sale of
intoxicating liquors on the first day of the week commonly called
Sunday.
Be it ordained by the Council of the Town of Edmonds.
SECTION 1: That the owners, proprietors or keepers of any
saloon place, or house, where intoxicating liquors are kept and
sold within the limits of the Town of Edmonds, or the agent or
employees of any such owner, proprietor or keeper thereof, shall

securely close said saloon, house or,place where intoxicating li-
quors are kept and sold at the hour'of eleven o'clock and thirty
minutes on each and every Saturday night, and said place or places i
shall remain closed from said hour thence to the hour of five flJ��a
o'clock in the forenoon on the Monday following said Saturday night
and during said period of time the owner, proprietor or keeper of
any such saloon, house or place, or the agent or employees of the
owner, proprietor or keeper or any such place shall not sell, barter
or give away, directly or indirectly to any person or persons any
intoxicating liquors, provided that beer aril wine shall be consider-
ed intoxicating liquors, within the meaning of this Ordinance.
SECTIOE 2: Whoever shall violate any provisions of Section 1,
of this Ordinance shell be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on
conviction shall be punished. by a fine rot less than ten dollars," a,
nor more that ninety, or by imprisonment for a period not exceed-
ing thirty days, or by both fire and imprisonment for each and
every offense committed.
SECTIOU 3: This Ordinance shall be in full force at the ex-
piration of five days after its passage and publication.
Passed by the Town Council at the regular meeting held, on
the 6th day of July A.D. 1897.
