tor.,, its successors and assigns, the right to lay and mairtair_
un-der ground conduits and wires, ar.d to construct necessary manholes,
make house connections, and to erect poles and thereon to faster
wires on the streets and alleys, and to operate a telephone and
telegraph system in the Town of Edmonds, State of Washington.
Be it ordained by the Council of the Town of Edmonds.
XAlSECTION 1: That the Independent Telephone Company of Seattle;�ashingtor, its successors and assigns, be and is hereby grated
_Lfor a period of Twerty-five (25) years, the right, privilege and
,,��"' franchise to erect poles, with the necessary supports, cross arms
"1 and fixtures, and to string wires and cables thereon, and to cor..-
J struct urderground conduits together with the necessary manholes
and other appliances, and to lay, place and stretch wires and cables
therein and along, over, upon, under and across the streets, alleys,
averues and public places of the Town of Edmonds, State of Washing-
ton, for the transmission of sourd, signals, conversation and in-
telligence, through and over said wires and cables by means of elec-
tricity, ar..d to construct, establish, equip, install, maintain, and
operate a telephone and telegraph system. and to corduct a general
telephone ar_•d telegraph business in said Town of Edmonds.
' 64'�'O SECTIY 2: That all conduits shall be located.ir conformity
with such reasonable regulations as the City Council may by Ordinance
prescribe for corduita of similar character, and all excavations for
corstructirg, repa.irAg and charging such conduits shall be done in
compliance with the Ordinance of said City which may be in force at
the time of the performance of the work, and in such marrer as not
to unnecessarily irterfere with the free use of the streets ands
alleys by the public, save and except such temporary irterfererce
as may be necessary incident to the prosecution of the work.

SECTIOU 3: That the work of constructing said system shall
be corinenced in good faith within three (3) months from the date k
of the acceptance of this Franchise and shall be continuously pro-
secuted thereafter until the completion ard operation of the
system.
SECTIOL 4: That the said Grantee shall furnish free of
to said Town of Edmonds, one main line telephone.

SECTIOE 5: That said Grantee shall file an acceptance of.this
Franchise in writing with the Clerk in the Town of Edmonds, Stateae
of Washirgton, within ten (10) days after the publication of this
Ordinance, and if the said acceptance is not filed, as aforesaid,
then this Ordinance shall be null and void, but said acceptance
shall constitute the execution of the contract between the Grantee
and the Town of Edmonds, State of Washington, for the purposes
herein stated.
