An Ordinance regulating the selling of goods, wares or nerehand-
�� ize at public auction or in temporary places, or the peddling of
the same, and the posting or distributing of advertising matter,
and providingva penalty for the same; without a license therefor as
herein provided.
Be it ordained by the Council of the Town of Edmonds.
SECTI(M l: It shall be unlawful hereafter for any person,
jf r firm or corporation, to sell or offer for sale ary goods, wares
or merchandise, which have beer imported or brought into the Town
r"_ -of Edmonds; distribation or sale at auction or public outcry, or
-to peddle, sell, or offer for sale any such goods, wares or mer-
ethan dice upon the public streets, or from house to house, or from
'Irr� any boat, wagon, cart, or other vehicle, or from any pack basket,
or other package carried on foot within the Town of Edmonds; or
to oper, conduct or Barry on ary store on place for the temporary
sale of such goods, wares or merchandise within such town, without
first filing in the office of the Towr• Clerk a verified list of
such goods, wares or merchandise to be sold or offered for sale,
together with the payment to said Clerk the sum of Twenty-five
($25.00),�)ollars for each and every day such business is to be
---carried on, and obtaining a written license therefor, which shall
state the dates on which such business may be carried or_:
[. 2rovided, that this Section shall not be construed to apply
"to administrators or executors selling property of deceased per -
"sons, or to private individuals selling their household property

or furniture, or farming tools, implements, livestock, or any pro-
duce grown or raised by such person, or to any person or his agent,
selling any goods, wares or merchandise from his regularly main-
tained stock or place of business whey he has maintained such stock
or place of business in said Town for a period of six worths prior
thereto, either at public auction or private sale.

SECTION 2: It shall be unlawful hereafter for any person, �
firm or corporation, to post, paint., tack or distribute any e.d-�
vertising matter, circulars, handbills, dodgers, cards, samples
and sample copies or other matter, bills, or dodgers used to aa-wgi',:�V
vertise-patent medicines, patent articles, shovr- or theatrical
performances, or any other purpose for which advertising matter,
signs, posters, circulars, dodgers, cards of other devices are
used, calculated to attract the attention of the public upon any
public street, place, sidewalk or alley or to the inhabitants of
the Town of Edmonds or to their homes, or upon any billboards,
fence or other places without first obtairing a license therefor CR'T'
from the Town Clerk,and paying to such Ulerk.the sum of Ten (10.00)
Dollars, and which shall be in full payment for such license for
a term of one year from the date thereof, and the Town Clerk shall
issue a written license therefor.
SECTIOV 3: Ary person violating any of the provisions of
this Ordinance shall be -deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon yyL

conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not more than
One Hundred _(,$100.00) Dollars, or by imprisonment in the Town jail
not more than Thirty days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTIOU 4: This Ordinance shall be in force from and after
its passage and approval.
