Ar Ordinance fixing the salaries and compensation of City
Officers; determining the penal sum of official Bonds of certain
officers. Proviaing for the appointment by the.;layor of officers,
and defining the duty of certain officers.
The City Council of the City of Edmonds do ordain as follows:
SECTIOT' 1: The City Clerk, City Treasurer, Marshal and City
Attorney shall, respectively, before entering upon their respec-
to tine duties, each execute a Bond to the City of Edmonds, in the
penal sum herein prolided,towit:
2 3 City Clerk in the sum of One Thousand Dollars
3 City Treasurer in the sum of Three Thousand Dollars.
City Attorney in the sum of One Thousand Dollars.
City Marshal in the sum of One Thousand Dollars.
City Health Officer in the sum of Dollars.
SECTION 2s The 'Clerk shall perform such duties in addition to
those provided by lavy, as the Council may require. H,e shall receive.
a salary of Six Hund3jed Dollars per annum, payable monthly.
SECTIO17 3: The Treasurer in addition to the duties provided
by law shall make a Deport to the Council, every quarter, of the
condition of the Tre$sury. He shall receive compensation equal to
one per-centum on all moneys received and paid out by him as
Treasurer, payable.
06�441SECTIOLI' 4: The City &ttorrey shall be the legal clavisor of
the City Council and 'all the officers of the City ir relation to
matters pertaining to their respective offices. He shall represent
the City in all litigation in all courts in which the City is a
party or directly interested, and shall prosecute all violations of
City Ordinances, and 'shall act generally as Attorney for the City
and the several departmerts of the City government and perform such

other duties as may be provided by the laws of the State of Wash-
irgton. He shall receive a salary of Six Hundred ($600.00)
Dollars per arum payable monthly, and reasonable fees for prose-
cuting or defending actions in which the City is a party or inter-
ested other than for violation of City Ordinances.
SECTIOE 5: The Librarian shall receive Three Hundred ($300.00) ,
Dollars per annum payable monthly.
SECTIOE 6: The Marshal shall receive, in addition to such fees
as are provided by law for serving process, a salary of Line .--zLdred

SECTIOP 7: The Mayor shall appoint a Police Justice who shalldoe4r't
receive the same fees as are paid to Justices of the Peace for likeJ.
services under the laws of the State of Washington; provided, how-
ever, that in any cause wherein costs are taxed against the City,no
Warrant shall be drawn for the same until audited by the City Council.

whose employment shall continue during the pleasure of the Mayor..
