An Ordinance providing for and establishing a legal depart-"
meat for the City of Edmonds, Washington, prescribing the duties
and fixing the compensation therefor.
The City Council of the City of Edmonds, Washington, do or-
dain as follows:
SECTIO17 1: There shall be and hereby is established a legal
department for the City of Edmonds, Washington.
SECTION 2: The legal department of the City of Edmonds, Wash'�,�
ington, shall consist of a Qity Attorney elected at the regular
City election, as prescribed by the laws of the State of Washington
for cities of the third class, and such legal counsel as the City
Council shall deem necessary and expedient.
SECTIOF 3: It shall be the duty of the legal department of �'
the City of Edmonds to advise the City authorities and officers in _
all legal, matters pertaining to the business of the City, to re- +
present the City in all litigation it all Courts in which the City
is interested, directly or indirectly; to bring suit in the Lame
of the City in the proper Court for the collection of any tax; to
perform such other legal duties as the City Council may by Ordi-
nance direct.
SECTION: 4: the City Attorney shall receive a salary of Ole
Hundred Dollars per year, payable quarterly. The legal. cour_sel
for the City shall receive such compensation, payable monthly, as
the City council shall apportion thereto in the annual budget
made to meet the expenses of the Attorney's department.

SECTIOE 5: All other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict thereto are hereby expressly repealed.
This Ordinarce shall take effect upon its passage, approval
and publication as provided by law.
