any minor under the age of twenty-one years, or females of any age,
from entering or rem4ining in such pool room or billiard hall,and
providing for fines and penalties for the violation thereof.
The City Council of the City of Edmonds.do ordain as follows;
SECTI(M 1: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or cor-
poration, either as owner, keeper, agent or manager, in whole or
W" 3a part, of any public pool room, card room or billiard hall with-
in the City of Edmonds, to permit or allow any person under the
F�. age of twenty -ore years, or any females of any age, to enter or
FA_ in any pool room or billiard hall, whether as employee
y therein, visitor or patron; atd it shall be no defense to a charge
of violation of this Section that such minor misrepresented his
age to such owner, keeper, agent, or manager, but such person shall
be bound to know that such person is of lawful age.
_V SECTION: 2: It shall be unlawful for any person, either as
ovmer, keeper, agent or manager, in whole or in part, to keep any
o � pool room, card room or billiard hall open for business later than
eleven o'clock P.M., or open_ the same earlier than six o'clock
of any day.
�- tod, a SECTIOr 3; It shall be unlawful for any person., either as
[' owner, keeper, agent or manager, to keep, or allow to be kept, any
pool room, card room or billiard hall, or allow or permit any
tables for the purpose of playing cards, in such pool room or
billiard hall, where the same has not a free ani unobstructed view
from the public street; Provided, that the last clause shall not
apply to private clubs which are not conducted for- profit.
•�� SECTSOr 4: i o license for the conduct of such pool rooms,
,rd rooms, or billiard halls shall issue hereafter unless appli-
.� cation therefor shall first be made to the City Council, who, if
such applicant be of sufficient moral character, may grant a permit
for such license to issue, and such -permit signed by the Mayor,
shall be presented to the City Treasurer before such license fee
shall be accepted by him. Provided, that such license shall not
be transferable, except by permission of the Council.
SECTIOV 5: Any person violating the provisions of this Or-
dinance shall, on conviction thereof inany court, having jurisdic-

ion thereof, may be fined in any sum not less than ten dollars
($10.00) nor more then one hundred ($100.00) dollars, or be im-
ftl111- prisoned in the City jail not less than five days, nor more than
thirty days, and in addition thereto the City Council shall have
jurisdiction to cancel such license at any time for the violation
of this Ordinance.
SECTIOr 6: Ordinance r o.215 and Ordinance ro.228 and all
other Ordinances or arts of Ordinances, inconfliet with the pro-
J5 visions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed.

SECTIOE 7: Thi6 Ordinance shall take effect from and after
its publication in accordance with law.
