An Ordinance creating the office of electrical Inspector, pro-
viding for his appointment, fixing his powers, duties and compensa-
tion, providing for permits for electrical work and fees to be
charged for same, providing a license fee for electricians and fix-
ing the amount of such fee, adopting the "rational Electrical Code"
as recommended by the rational Fire Protection Association for
1923, together with subsequent amendments thereto, as the Eleetri,-
cal Code of the City of Edmonds, and providing a penalty for the
violation of any of the provisions of this Ordinance.
Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Edmonds as
follows:
tP SECTIOU 1: That there be,and is, hereby created the office of
lectrical Inspector for the City of Edmorcle, whose duty shall be
to irspect all interior arsd exterior electric light and power wires,
icircuits and apparatus for the prevention of danger to life or
property from the use of such electric light and power wires, cir-
cuits and apparatus, and to immediately report to the Council after
each inspection whether or not such electric light or power wires,
circuits and apparatus have been installed in full compliance with
the provisions of the "N atioral Electrical Code" herein adopted.
It shall be the further duty of said electrical Inspector to make
inspections of any or all electric light or power wires, circuits
and apparatus from time to time as the City Council may direct for
the purpose of ascertaining whether or rot the same are being main-
tained in full compliance with all the provisions of the "rational
Electrical Code".

SECTIOr 4: It shall be unlawful for any person to install,
0. alter or exterd any electrical equipment without first obtaining
'a permit for such installation, alteration or extension, from the
r�,G City Clerk of the City of Edmords. Any person desiring to obtain
ra permit for the installation, alteration or extension of any
electrical equipment shall file an application for such permit
with the City Clerk, which shall state the name of the owner or
the occupant of the premises, the location of the same and the
nature and extent of the work to be performed; provided, that
permits shall rot be required for the replacing of broken elec-
trical fixtures when such fixtures conform to the regulations
cortained in this Ordinance.
SECTIOE 5: Every person doing work under the provisions of
this Ordinance shall, before permit is issued, pay to the City
Treasurer the following fees:

--SECTIOF 7: The fee to be paid into the City Treasury of the
City of Edmonds for such license shall be the sum of Twenty-five, 23
( 25.00) Dollars per year, payable yearly in advance. �a,t #8,/
SECTIOI. a: The "National Electrical Code" as recommended by
the National Fire Protection Association for 1923, together with
all subsequent additions of said code, is hereby adopted as the
Electrical Code of the City of Edmonds, and such. code by this re Per-
ence is hereby made a part of this Ordinance as though fully set c
forth herein and the several provisions of said code as now in t
effect, or as may be hereafter amended by subsequent additions
thereto, shall be in full force and effect and binding within the
corporate limits of the City of Edmonds.
SECTION 9: A copy of said Code, together with all subsequent
additions thereof, shall be kept in the office cf the City Clerk
of the City of Edmonds and shall be open to inspection by the
public at all times. ,
SECTIM 10; Any one convicted of the violation of any of the

provisions of said 'Tational Electrical Code" or of subsequent I
amendments thereto, or of any of the provisions of this ordinance 1,
shall be punished by a fine of not more than One Hundred ($100.00)
Dollars or by imprisonment for not more than thirty (30) days, or
by both such fire and- imprisonment.
