An Ordinanee providing for the licensing and regulation of
taxi -cabs and for -hire passenger vehicles in the City of
Edmonds and providing penalties for the violation thereof.

FOLLOWS:
Section 1: From and after the effective date of this Ordin-
ance the license f:.e for operating any taxi -cabs and for -hire
passenger vehicles is hereby _fixed at the sum of Twenty-five
Dollars ($25.00) p:r year for each taxi -cab or for -hire pass-

enger vehicle so operated. All such license fees shall expire
on December 31st each year and such license taken out after
July ist shall be Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) for the remainder of
the year. All applications for such taxi -cab or for -hire pass-
enger vehicles licenses shall be in writing signed by the
applicant and filed with the City Clerk who shall issue such
license.
Section 2: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpor-
ation to operate any taxi -cab or forphire passenger vehicle in the
City of Edmonds without having first procured a license from the
City Clerk of said City so to do and having paid the amount of
such license into the treasury of the City of Edmonds.
Section 3: No such taxi -cab or for -hire passenger vehicle shall
be operated in the City of Edmonds by one other than a duly
licensed and qualified motor vehicle driver under the laws of
the State of Washington.
Section 4: No taxi -cab or for -hire passenger vehicle shall be
permitted to stand or park except when loading and unloading
passengers other than in one of the following passenger vehicle
zones:
One on the East side of Fifth Street between Main
and Dayton Streets in front of Engel's Tavern;
One on -the South side of Dayton Street immediately
Last of the property line of Fifth Street;
One on Front Street immediately South of the
property line of Main Street;
and said taxi -cab or for -hire passenger vehicle zones shall be
set aside exclusively for the use of such licensed vehicles,
and shall be suitably narked by the Police Department of the
City.
Section 5: Not more than four licenses shall be issued and out-
standing at any time for taxi -cab or for -hire passenger vehicles
in the City of Edmonds. Said licensed taxi -cabs shall be assigned
to their respective stands or zones, as abore established, by the
Mayor.
Section 6: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpor-
ation to park any automobile or other vehicle in the space pro-
vided for herein.
Section 7: Every person, firm or corporation found guilty of
violating any of the terms or provisions of this Ordinance shall
be deemed guilty of misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall
be punished by a fine of not to exceed One hundred Dollars (100.00)
or by confinement in the City Jail for not more than ten (10)
days or by both such fine and imprisonment.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
