Ordinance 992• • ORDINANCE NO.._I_ L ?_ A N ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN LANDS AND PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF EDMONDS FOR PUBLIC PARK PURPOSES. WHEREAS, after due consideration and in conformity with the recom- mendations of the City's Professional Planner, the City Council of the City of Edmonds has found that it is necessary and proper to acquire certain lands to provide a more adequate park and recreational program in the City, and WHEREAS, the owner of the following described tract is willing to sell said land to the City of Edmonds for the sum of Twenty Thousand ($20, 000. ) Dollars, on a real estate contra%t, on the following terms: $5, 000.00 cash, down payment, and the balance payable in three (3) equal annual installments, plus accrued interest at the rate of six (6%) per cent per annum computed on the declining principal balances, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That it is necessary, and in the best interest of the general health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Edmonds, to acquire for public park purposes the following described property, situate in the County of Snohomish, State of Washington, to -wit: • • DESCRIPTION: Parcel A: All that portion of Government Lot 2, Section 23, Township 27 N.R. 3 E.W. That the Mayor of the City of Edmonds be and he is hereby authorized to enter into a contract for the purchase of the said land, for the sum of Twenty Thousand ($20, 000.00) Dollars, on terms of Five Thousand ($5, 000.00) Dollars down, and the balance payable in three (3) equal annual installments, plus accrued interest at the rate of six (6%) per cent per annum computed on the diminishing principal balances. Section 3. That the total indebtedness of the City of Edmonds will not be increased by this purchase to an excess of one and one-half (1-1/2%) ner cent of the taxable valuation of the property within the City of Edmonds. Section 4. That the funds for the purchase of s: • ' property shall be drawn from the General Fund of the City of Edmonds. Section 5.
