AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
RELATING TO FIREMEN'S RELIEF AND PENSIONS, CREATING
A FIIcEMEN' S RELIEF AND PENSION SYSTEM, AND CREATING
A FIREMEN'S PENSION BOARD, IN CONFORMITY WITH THE
REVISED CODE OF WASHINGTON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
• ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Edmonds City Code is hereby amended pursuant
to Chapters 41.16 and 41.18 of the Revised Code of Washington by
adding to said Code a new chapter, Chapter 1.27, which shall read
as follows:
1.27.010 Edmonds Firemen's Pension Boar Created.
There is hereby created the Edmonds Firemen's Pension
Board to consist of the following five members: the Mayor,
who shall be Chairman of the Board; the City Clerk; the City
Treasurer; and two regularly employed firemen elected by
secret ballot of the firemen. The first members to be elected
by the firemen shall serve for a term of one and two years,
respectively, and their successors shall be elected annually
for a two-year term. The two firemen so elected shall,
in turn, select a third fireman who shall ^erve as an alternate
in the event of absence 0f one of the regularly elected fire-
mer. .
1.27.020 Secretary of Board. The Board may select and
appoint a secretary who may, but need not be, a member of the
Board.
1.27.030 Chairman Pro Tempos In case of absence of
inability of the Chairmen to act, the Board may select a
Chairman pro tcmpore who shall during such absence or inability
perform the duties and exercise the powers of the Chairman.
1.27.040 Quorum of Board. A majority of the members of
the Board shall constitute a quorum and have power to transact
businLW,.
1.27.050 Meetings and Duties. The Board shall hold
such meetings and perform those duties as prescribed to said
Board by the applicable statutes of the State of
Washington, specifically including Chapters 41.16 and
41.18 of the Revised Codc of Washington, as may be amended
from time to time.
Section 2. This Ordinan shall take full force and effect
five days after its passage and publication as required by law.
