AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
PROHIBITING SWIMMING IN CERTAIN PUBLIC ACCESS
AREAS WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF SAID CITY OVER
WATERS THEREIN AS EXTENDED,,. DESIGNATING SAID AREAS
BY SIGNS, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There -'is hereby added to Chapter 5.52
"Boating Code," of the Edmonds City Code the following
new sections:
"Section 5.52.080. It is hereby declared that certain
public access areas to waters within the jurisdiction over
waters as extended, by the City of Edmonds,are declared
to be dangerous to the health and safety of swimmers by
reason of watercraft launching in and removal from water
in said areas.
"Section 5.52.081. The Chief of Police shall place signs
prohibiting swimming in certain public boating access
areas. The signs must be of such size and character to
bring attention to the fact that swimming is prohibiter_
by City ordinance. The area in which swimming is prohib-
ited shall be bounded in width on both sides by said no
swimming signs. No person shall swimm in that area
between the signs from the shoreline for a distance of
one hundred feet from the water side of the shoreline.
"Section 5.52.082. The Chief of Police shall place
the signs prohibiting swimming in the following places:
(a) The shoreline of Lake Ballinger where public
access is provided by the extension cf McAleer
Way easterly of 74th Avenue West."
Section 2. The violation of any of the provisions of
this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than
Five Hundred Dollars or by imprisonment for not more than ninety
days or by both such fine arm imprisonment as provided in Sec-
tion 5.52.090 of the Edmonds City Code.
