AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
LEVYING THE GENERAL TAXES FOR THE CITY OF EDMONDS FOR
THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1979, ON ALL
PROPERTY, BOTH REAL AND PERSONAL, IN SAID CITY WHICH IS
SUBJECT TO TAXATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING SUFFICIENT
REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS OF SAID
CITY FOR THE ENSUING YEAR AS REQUIRED BY LAW, AND
PROVIDING FOR COLLECTION THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds having
considered the City's anticipated financial requirements for
1979, and the amounts necessary and available to be raised
by ad valorem taxes on real, personal and utility property,
now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There shall be and hereby is levied on all
real, personal, and utility property in the City of Edmonds,
subject to taxation, current taxes for the ensuing year com-
mencing January 1, 1979, the sum of $1,176,421.00, which is
$3.111 per $1,000 of assessed valuation levied on property
with an estimated assessed valuation of approximately
$378,114,465.00, of all said taxable property, for the
Current Expense Funds and for the Firemen's Pension Fund as
may be necessary to maintain the actuarial soundness of said
Firemen's Pension Fund, if any be needed.
Section 2. In addition to the above levies for the
ensuing fiscal year of 1978, there shall be and is hereby
levied current taxes of $36,980.00, which is approximately
.1359 dollars per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation levied on
property with an estimated assessed valuation of $272,155,078.00,
the purpose of which is to retire the outstanding obligation
incurred by the City for refunding General Obligation Bonds
which retired bonds that have been issued after an affirmative
vote of the citizens in favor of the construction of the
Edmonds Civic Center.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be certified to the
proper County Officials, as provided by law, and taxes here
levied shall be collected to pay to the Finance Director of
the City of Edmonds at the time and in the manner provided
by the laws of the State of Washington for the collection of
taxes for non -charter code cities.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall become effective five
days after passage and publication by posting as provided by
law.
