Ordinance 2035ORDINANCE NO. 2035 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTIONS 1.11.010 and 1.11.020 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO REDUCE THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE EDMONDS ART COMMISSION FROM EIGHT MEMBERS TO SEVEN MEMBERS. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, Washington, finds that reducing the membership of the Edmonds Arts Commission to seven members is in the best interest of the public health, safety and general welfare, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. At the time of this ordinance, the Arts Commission consists of eight members. Position number 7 shall be eliminated at the expiration of its present term. Presently existing position No. 8 shall be renumbered as position No. 7 and shall expire as set forth in Section 3 of this ordinance. Section 2. Section 1.11.010 of the Edmonds City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 1.11.010 Establishment of Commission --Number of Members. There is established an Edmonds Civic Arts Commission which shall be composed of seven members who shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the City Council. At least four members of the commission shall be involved in the instruction of, or otherwise professionally engaged in, the visual and performing arts. Section 3. Section 1.11.020 of the Edmonds City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 1.11.020 Terms of Membership. 1. In order to insure the fewest terms will expire in any one year, the terms of the appointed positions by position number shall expire on December 31, of the year set opposite said position number as follows: Position No. 1 Position No. 2 Position No. 3 Position No. 4 Position No. 5 Position No. 6 Position No. 7 1979 1980 1980 1981 1981 1978 1979 Thereafter the term of membership shall be for four years. 2. Any appointment to a position vacated other than by the expiration of the term of the appointment shall be to fill the unexpired portion of the term. Members may be removed by the Mayor with approval of the City Council after a public hearing before the City Council for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office. Members shall be removed for failure to maintain attendance as required by provisions of the Edmonds City Code. 3. No person shall be appointed to serve more than two full terms on the commission. An appointment to fill a vacancy for less than two years shall not constitute a full term for the purposes of this section. Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days after passage and publication by posting as provided by law. APPROVED: c MAYOR, H. H.
