AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTIONS 1.42.010 AND 1.42.020 OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE TO REDUCE THE MEMBERSHIP IN THE
SHORELINES MANAGEMENT CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
FROM NINE TO SEVEN AND INCREASING THE TERM TO FOUR
YEARS.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that reducing the
number of members of the Shorelines Management Citizens
Advisory Committee to seven and increasing the term of
membership to four years is in the best interest of the
public health, safety and general welfare,'now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. At the time of this ordinance the
Committee is composed of nine members. Presently existing
position No. 2 shall be eliminated. Presently existing
position No. 1 shall be eliminated on the expiration of its
present term. The remaining seven positions shall be renumbered
accordingly and shall expire as set forth in Section 3 of
this ordinance.
Section 2. Section 1.42.010 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
1.42.010 Creation --Eligibility. There is created
a Shorelines Management Citizens Advisory Committee,
consisting of seven members, who shall be appointed

by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the City
Council. At least five of the members of the
committee shall reside in the City of Edmonds.
Section 3. Section 1.42.020 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
1.42.020 Terms of Membership.
1. In order to insure that the fewest terms will
expire in any one year, the terms of the
appointed positions by position number shall
expire on June 2, of the year set opposite
said position number as follows:
Position No. 1 1981
Position No. 2 1980
Position No. 3 1980
Position No. 4 1981
Position No. 5 1979
Position No. 6 1980
Position No. 7 1979
Thereafter, the terms of office shall be for
four years.
2. Vacancies occurring otherwise than through
the expiration of term may be filled for the
unexpired term. Members may be removed,
after public hearing, by the Mayor, with the
approval of the City Council for inefficiency,
neglect of duty or malfeasance in office.
Members shall be removed for failure to
maintain attendance as required by provisions
of the Edmonds City Code.
3. No person shall be appointed to serve more
than two full terms on the Committee. An
appointment to fill a vacancy for less than
two years shall not constitute a full term
for the purposes of this section.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force

and effect five (5) days after passage and publication by
posting as provided by law.
