ORDINANCE NO. 2778
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 8.05.040 OF THE EDMONDS CITY
CODE TO ADOPT THE NEW LAW ENACTED BY THE
WASHINGTON STATE LEGISLATURE WHICH PROHIBITS THE
DISPLAY OR POSSESSION OF CERTAIN DRIVER'S
LICENSES AND IDENTICARDS; AND SETTING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Edmonds City Council recognizes that the
Washington State Legislature amended RCW 46.20.336 to delete the
criminal offense of displaying or possessing a cancelled, revoked
or suspended driver's license or identicard and created a new
section which provides that this offense is now a traffic
infraction, and
WHEREAS, the Edmonds City Council finds that the new
traffic infraction law should be adopted by reference, NOW,
THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 8.05.040 of the Edmonds City Code
is hereby amended to add a new subsection (C) to read as follows:
Chapter 210, Section 4 of the Laws of 1990 -
Display or possession of cancelled, revoked
or suspended driver's license or identicard.
Section 2. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional
by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or
unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or

constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance.
Section 3. This ordinance, being an exercise of a
power specifically delegated to the City legislative body, is not
subject to referendum, and shall take effect five (5) days after
passage and publication of the ordinance or a summary thereof
consisting of the title.
