ORDINANCE NO. 3457
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING EDMONDS CITY CODE (ECC)
SECTION 7.40.040 IN ORDER TO PROVIDE CONSISTENCY
BETWEEN THE MONTHLY SERVICE CHARGES IMPOSED
BY EDMONDS ORDINANCE NO. 2361 AND THOSE
IMPOSED BY CURRENT ECC SECTION 7.40.040, AND
FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME
EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, in 1983 the City of Edmonds raised the charge for inspection and
maintenance of detector check systems to a bimonthly charge of $12.34 for a two -inch to four-
inch line, $21.59 for a six -inch line, and $30.81 for an eight -inch line; and
WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds has charged these rates since the adoption of
Edmonds Ordinance No. 2361; and
WHEREAS, it has recently been discovered that ECC Section 7.40.040 as
codified fails to include the previously adopted charges for inspection and maintenance of
detector check systems; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the charges imposed under Edmonds
Ordinance No. 2361 accurately reflect the cost to the City of Edmonds to provide the service and
should be codified; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Edmonds City Code Section 7.40.040(A) is hereby amended to
provide as follows:
A. The monthly rates for inspection and maintenance of
detector check systems are fixed as follows:

Water used through the fire service line for fire suppression
purposes and limited testing of the system will normally be
furnished without any charge in addition to the bimonthly
minimum charge set forth for fire service meter or detector check
meter.
Section 2. Severability. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction,
such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality for any other
section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance.
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifi-
cally delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect
five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the
title.
