December 17th, 1940.
Th.Council met in regular session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll
call showed the following Councilmen present:Chandler, Hareid, Aellahan
Clausen, Martin and Jones. The minutes of the last meetings were read and
approved.
It came to the Councils attention that the Cityc:: Treasurer had put
the tax money for Street Lights, $1300,00, into Current Expenee instead of
the Street Fund. On motion the City Treasurer was instructed to transfer the
Street Light money from the Current Expense Fond tbethe Street Fund.
It came to the Councils attention that the State Bank of Edmonds, had in
it•s posession $1000,00 in bonds of L..I..District No.45 and that they could be
redeemed for face value with out interest.
On motion the City Treasurer was instructed to purchase the $1000,00
of L.I.District No.45, to be paid with out interest.
The following bids were received on the supplies for the construction of
the lateral sewer in District No.52.

STEVENS LUMBER CO. being the lowest bidder it. was moved by a.ailill and
seconded by Ur'did that the Council accept the bid of the Stevens Lumber Co.
their bid being the lowest bid. The vote was as follower: Chandler yes, Rareid
yes, Callahan yes, Clausen yes, Martin yes Jones yes. Carried by unanimoue vote
of the Councilmen present.
The Mayor brought up the question. of lights for the Christmas tree at the
intersection, of Fifth and Main Street. Harry Miller stated.that the American
Legen by Lio el Brown had signed up for the lights.
E.B.,Hubbard brought up the gestion of payment of assessments on Lots 30-
31-32-33 Block 123. He stated that the.City Treasurer had refused to accept
payment of the assessments because the lots were being foreclosed on for the
improvements. The matter was refused to the City Attorney and said that the
City Treasurer had no right to.refuse payment of the assessment.
