willing to share the cost of materials for surfacing First Avenue '17orth.,
approximately 1000 feet, to the extent of approximately 0310.
A motion was made by Hansen and seconded by Chandler. that we b.la.ck-top

the Deming pump be cancelled. A vote.of the council showed Chendler yes,_
McGibbon no, Savage no,. Clausen no., and Hansen no. After some discussion
a new motion watt made by Savage and seconded. by Hansen that the Clerk notify
the Polson Implement Co. if they could not make delivery on the pump by
September first to cancel the order. ,Motion.carried-,.
Viater Supt. Doty reported the department was in need of meters anal boxes, also
copper tubing. A motion was made by McGibbon, and. seconded by Savage that -he
purchase 20 meters and boxes also 800 feet of eoppert- tubing: Motion carried.

Mayor Pourtner•reported that Mrs..,Strance of the library board, had asked
about having the windows of the library building puttied and painted..
A motion was made by Chandler and seconded by Savage that the City Council
be authorized to make the neseccary repairs of the library building, the
puttying• alfd'-painting of the windows and doors, . and painting of the roof .
Motion carried.
Water Supt. Doty reported that.the water.pressure in north Ediiionds register-
ed at 50 pounds.
Cliff L:.fartin reported that we could not get the County .to do the work on
the. streets. ;It was suggested to contact the Washir;gton &sphalt co, that
w-e may be able to get them to do the work for us.

Plumbing and Heating Co for �125 for the removing'of roots from the sewer
in the alley between eighth and ninth street, be returned to them and ask
for an itemized -bill.` Motion carried.
A..letter.was..read from.the Polson Implement Company in regard to the ship-
ment of the Deming pump., in which they stated that they feel certain of
shipment by August 29,.. A; motion. was made by, Jones, and seconded by Savage
that the Polson:Implement Co.'be-notified to cancel the order for the
Deming pump.- A.roll"call vote showed Chandler yes,,_ McGibbon no, Jones yes,
Savage yes and.Clausen yes.'.
The Chief of Police name'before the Council in...regards to the traffic during
the holidays, he suggested routing.the'traffic.over other streets., this was
referred to the street committee. He•also suggested having some signs made
and the crosswalks painted. A,motion was made by Chandler and seconded by
savage that,the.Chief of Police have these signs painted and also the arose-
walks...Motion carried.
A motion was made by Savage. and seconded by Jones.that the Clerk notify
the property owners on Ninth street that they must oonneot-to the sewer im-
mediately and pay the inspection fee of $3. Motion carried.
A diagram was presented to the Council for a standard'light-pole from
Victor Long Welding Co. at a price of $48.50 in lots of 50, which does not
include the globe or wiring.
Mr. Chitty and Mr. Wolfe'came before the Council -in regard to the street
lightning. They had made a survey of the City and prepared a map, dividing
the City into three districts, business., secondary business and residentialg
showing the number of lights needed inyeach district." Mr. Wolfe stated a
portion of these lights could be considered, for instance'the,business
district, which would cost $760 a year more than we are.now paying for -
street lightning. He,also.stated the Puget Sound Power &.Light Co. would
use the light poles now in use and furnish any new poles that were needed,
also they would furnish the light fixtures and globes and make any replaee-
ing of globes when necessary. Mayor Fourtner suggested this be taken under
consideration at the next meeting'of the Council.
A•motion was made that the meeting adjounn until Friday evening at 7:30 P.M.

A roll call vote of the Councilmen showed,Chandler, MoGibbon,:Jones,-Savage,
Hansen and Clausen,, with Mayor Fourtner presiding.
A`inotion'was made by McGibbon and seconded by Chandler that the water Supt.
negiotate with Mr. Case and the new property owner of Jerome's property -in
regard to the paying of the cost of water pipe in water rent.- Motion
carried.
A -motion w4s made by Chandler and seconded by Hansen that the Attorney and
Engineer be authorized to draw up.a resolution of intention for sidewalks
curb and gutter on Fifth'Street from Dayton Street to -the South property line
of Mr. Bently and from fifth street - wes.t to the, alley, on Dayton :Street.
Passed by a unaminous vote -of the Council

The Council met in regular session with Mayor Fourtner presiding, 'the roll
call showed the following councilmen,present Chandler, McGibbon, McDonell_,,
Hansen and Clausen.
The bills for labor which were approved by the finance committee were allowed.
Geroge Turfel, $16, Ray McZeever 43 and $45• This motion was. made by Chandler
and seconded by Clausen. Motion carried.
A;motion was made by Chandler and seconded.by Clausen that the disabled
American Veterans be given permission to sell flowers.in the City,of Edmonds
from Sept.,24 to the 29. Motion carried.
Mr. Stewart representing the Polson Implement Co. came before the Council
He stated the Deming Pump was in Seattle and they.would be very glad to
deliver it at the price quoted in the bid. After some discussion a motion
was made by Chandler and seconded by.Clausen that the City buy the Deming
pump. A roll call vote showed Chandler yes, McGibbon yes, McDonell yes,
Hansen yes, and Clausen yes.

the budget. The councilmen present were.Chandler., McGibbon, Savage, Hansen,
and Clausen.

AN ORDINANCE -adopting and levying the general taxes.for the City of Edmonds,
Washington, for the fiscal year.commencing January let, 1946, on all property,
b.oth real and personal, in -said City, subject to taxation for the purpose of
raising sufficient revenue,to.earry on the several departments of said City
for the ensuing year as required by law; appropriating the same to the several
funds for said fiscal year, and providing for the collection thereof.
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Edmonds, State of Washington, having
heard all persons aoking to be heard for and.against the preliminary budget,
heretofore adopte& for the ensuing year, due notice having been given as
required by law and now this let day of October 1945., final budget having been
adopted and the Council having determined the amount necessary to be paid
on the current assessment roll as general taxes for the ensuing year and app-
ropriating the same as in this Ordinance described therefore.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That,ther be and there is hereby levied on.all real and personal -
property of the City of Edmonds,- subject to taxation therein, a general tag
