Mr. Pike reported to. the .council that the. hedge in back. of the Methodist
Church had. groom out into, the ,allgy, making it imp.osaible for cars to get
through._ . This was referred, to the. street. committee to investigate and report
at the next council meeting.
The Clerk. read the. comments of the State examiners report to the Council.

committee look over this report and make a.report to the council on it..

City Clerk Mayor
January 7, 1947
The Council met in.regular.session with. Mayor.;.Iourtner.presiding. The'roll
call showed the following councilmen present Chandler, McGibbon, Waggoner,
Siefert., MoGinness_and Clausen: The water Collectors and treasurers report$
were read.. A -motion was madeby McGinne.ss and seconded by Waggoner that the
bills which were approved by the finance committee be allowecl and warrants
be drawn on the proper funds-. Motion carried.

A letter was read from the Yost Auto Co., in which they state that they
will pay. for the engineering cost and any other costs for: the vacating of
a portion: of the alley- Ap Block , .121,.
A letter was. dread from Mrs.. Paul .Kalushe about the Osanitary_ .condition of
the rats at the city dump.. A motion .was. made.by Waggoner.that the Street
Supt. be given authority to check the ,garbage dump, and see ,that the. dump
is covered.

An Ordinance uacating the ,West lane hundred twenty. (.120)• feet of the alley
in Block 121., Plat of . the .City of Edmonds., Snohomish County, Washington.
WHEREAS, the owners of more than two-thirds of the private property -abutt-
ing .upon that protift- 'of the alley, hereinafter described, in the C .ty of
Edmonds,. duly filed their Petition with the Oty Council of the City, of
Edmonds., praying for the vacation of said alley; and
WHERSAS,, the City Council.of the said City Aid by,Resolution duly adopted
fix the 5th,day of November,. 1946 at the hour of.eight o'olook P. M• of
said day -for the hearing and determination of a&id Petition; and
WHEREAS,, � .due and legal notice of the time and place of hearing and deter-
mination on said petition has been duly,giben by the City.Clerk as required
by law. and
WSERW, it appearing to.the City Council that tha said Petition should be
granted and the said Council.do.es hereby dotermine to vacate said portion
of such alley; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the West, one hundred, twenty (120) feet of the: alley in
Block 121, -Plat of the City -of . Edmonds.,. Edmonds•, Snohomish .County, Washington,
be and the same is hereby vacated as a public alley..

Mayor Fouxtner expressed a vote of thanks,. to Councilman Chandler. for his
faithful service. as councilman for the. City of Edmonds.
Mr. Tuoker snd Maxwell took their p44o,,ea for councilman of the first and
third wards. Mayor Fourtner.appointed. Mr_ Clausen for. Councilman for the
third ward for ,a .two year term... A, motion was .ma-0 by,. _Siefort..and seconded
by MaGinness that the Council approve the appointment. Motion o,arrie&.-

Mayor Fourtner appointed Counoilmen MoGinness, Siefert and Maxwell on the
street committee. The Water Committee Councilmen Clausen, chairman,
McGibbon T c er. The Park committee Cleve Little, Councilmen Waggoner,
McGibbon,' and Max Meyring.
The Assessment roll for L. I. D. 58 was filed with the City Clerk, with
February 4 being set for the date of hearing. A motion was made by MoGinness
and seconded by McGibbon that notices be sent out of the hearing 15days
before the date of hearing. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Waggoner and seconded by MoGinness that the contractor
be paid for removing of the tress on Eighth and Main street. Passed by a
unaminous vote of the Council.
Victor Long came before.the Council with his plans for his new building on
second and Main streets. He.askedd to break down the ourb on main street in
front of the building. A motion was made by McGibbon and seconded by.Mc-
Ginness that he be given permission to break down the curb leaving ten feet
in front of the pumps, but he must do this at his own expense and if any
meters or lines must be moved he must stand the expense of this. Motion
carried•.
A motion was made by Clausen and seconded by MoGinness that the property
owner on the West of this property be notified to. remove the obstruction
in his driveway. Motion carried.

Councilman MoGinness suggested that the street sf��� make a survey of
the alleys in the city.. He also suggested that he street committee make
a report on the street improvements for the year. The clerk was asked to
have a notice put in the paper asking the people in the south side of the
city, to come to the next council meeting in regards to any improvements
that may be wanted.
water Supt. MoKeefer reported that several people in So. Edmonds wanted
water, he suggested laying a two inch line to take care of them. He
also suggested.raising the rate of installing of meters. A motion was made
breMoG*tbon and seconded by Waggoner that this be referred to the water
committee. Motion carried.

Councilman MoGinness suggested that .the water committee make a survey of
the water system and the extending of water lines.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
UITY DIVE Mayor
January 21, 1947
The Council met in regular session with Mayor r ourtner presiding. The roll
call showed the following councilmen present McGibbon,. Waggoner, Tucker,
McGinness, Siefert, Clausen and Maxwell.
A letter was read, from Johns-Manville.Corp. in which they.state that the four
inch Transite Pressure `ripe, had been raisod in prioe'to .723.cents per foot.
A motion Was made by MoGibbon.and.seoonded by MoGinness that we accept this
order if the Engineer cannot obtain cast.Iron pipe. Motion carried.
John Crymes came before the.Council in regards.to connecting a building on
Bell -street to the sewer. A motion was made by MoGinness and seconded by
Siefert that the engineek make an ,investigation of the sewer -and that Mr.
Crymes be given permission to tie in to the sewer and pay IS100 for the con-
nection. Motion carried.
A number of Boy Scouts came before the Council and asked for permission to
use the south five acres for a meeting place, that they intended to build
a cabin 20 by 40 feet. A motion was made by Wag oner and seconded by
Tuoker that the post be given permission to erect their building under the
supervision bf the Park Board. Motion.oarried.
Mayor Fourtner appointed Otto,Anderson as Attorney for the City of Edmonds.
A motion was made by Tucker and seoonded•by waggoner that the appointment
be accepted oethe Council. Motion carried.
Mayor Fourtner read a letter from Gladgs.Leighton, complimenting Chief of
Police Holmquist on his work for the City of Edmonds.
A motion was made by Siefert that the Clerk notify the State Highway Dept.
the condition„,ok the Highway.on South F'ifth.Street, also to inquire about
a getting a permAnent surface to the curb from Howell way to the South
city limits. Motion carried. Motion seconded by McGibbon.
