1947-10-21 Council MinutesOctober 21, 1947 The Council met in regular session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll call showed the following councilmen present McGibbon Tucker, McGinness, Siefert, Clausen and Maxwell. Droctor Kenny came, before the Council with a report on the sewerage test from the Crescent Laundry, he stated he found no'contamination at the time of the test, but suggest the only solution along this district it for a'sewer. ° Councilman Tucker made a motion that papers be drawn up forming an L. I. D. District for a sewer. Motion was seconded by Councilman Siefert. After some discussion Tucker withdrew his motion, and a new motion was made that a legal petition b,e drawn up for the construction of a sewer. The Manager of the Richfield Service station, came before the Council in re- gards to people waiting for the bus on their property at, Fifth and Dayton Sts. He reported a dangerous condition and the stopping of trade to their station. A motion was made by Councilman McGinness and seconded by Councilman Maxwell that the Clerk write a letter to the Transportation Co., asking them to discontinue the loading and unloading of passenger in front of the Richfield Service station. Motion carried. Mr. Hubbard came before the Council and stated the city could purchase a number of feet of two inch galvanized pipe. A motion was made by Councilman Mc' g-inness and seconded by Councilman Siefert that the water Committee deter- mine the amount of pipe needed and be authorized to purchase the same. Motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Siefert and seconded by Councilman Maxwell that Emergency Ordinance Pio.. 57.4 be adopted. A roll call vote showed a unam- inous vote of the Council. A motion was made by.Councilman McGibbon and seconded by Councilman Maxwell that the men working by the ho-4r be paid twice a month. Motion carried. The Assessment Roll for L. I. D. 57was turned over to the City Clerks with the date of hearing set for November 18,, A motion was made by Councilman McGinness and seconded by Councilman Siefert that the report of the street,committee`be adopted and lights be installed. Motion. carried. A,motion was made by Councilman Waggoner and seconded by Councilman MoGibb'on that we purchase 15 chairs from Foss Tug and Barge Co. Motion carried. A,motion was made by Councilman McGibbon and seconded by Councilman Waggoner that the ai]jbir atrolman be on duty from 8 .P. M. until 4 A. M. and be subject to call four �duf ing the day, and any `other calls to be taken by the relief man. Motion carried. ` A motion was made by Councilman Siefert and s econddd... by Councilman Tucker that the finance committee investigate the investing of the city funds 11�A.d purchasgrg the L. I. D. #59 bonds if possible,. Motion carried. Ordi_ance No. 577 was read to the Council regulating the location of gas- oline pumps and the sidewalk crossings from and to automobile service stations in the city. A motion was made by Councilman McGibbon and seconded by coun- cilman Waggoner that this Ordinance b.,e adopted and.published. Motion. carried. ° There being no f ther business the meeting adjourned. ,p City Clerk Mayor November 4, 1947 The Council met in regular session with Mayor Fourtner presiding. The roll call showed the following councilmen. present,McGibbon, Tucker, Waggoner, Siefert, McGinness Clausen and Maxwell. The water collectors report was read. A motion was made by Councilman McGibbon and seconded by Councilman McGinness that the bills which were approved by the finance committee be allowed and warrants be drams on the proper funds. Motion carried. A letter was read from H. D. Fowler in which they state that four inch pipe could be purchased from them at 70 cents per foot. Amotion-was made by t Councilman McGibbon and seconded by Councilman Iaggoner that this be referred to the water committee. Motion carried. L letter was read from the First Baptist Church in which they ask for claim for damages done to the Church on June 5. A motion was made by Councilman Maxwell and seconded by Councilman McGinness that this claim of the Church be referred to the attorney. The Attorney advided the council to deny the Claim. He stated that the law provides that claims for damages must tie pres- ented thirty days after the damage is done.
