The roll
A letter was read from the Puget Sound Power & Light Co., in which they
state a street light has been installed at the North.dead end of Sixth
Avenue on November 26, 1948.
A letter was read from Mrs+ Paul Za.lushe in which she states the garLaage dump
will be filled up within a month, and asks that the city help to exterminate
the rats. The Clerk was asked to get in touch with a rat exttmmdattor as
to the cost.
A mot -ion, was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell
that the Clerk advertise for land which can be leased for garbage dumping
purposes. Motion.oarried.
A motion.was made by councilman Tucker and seoonded by councilman McGinness
Ordinance No. 584 be adopted and published. Councilman Siefert made an
amendment to the motion that the Mayor appoint a committee to meet with the
tavern owners to investigate the situation. No second to the motion.

Councilman McGibbon stated that residents living outside the city limits
and want fire protection to get in touch with the safety committee.
A motion wqe made by councilman McGibbon and seconded by councilman Maxwell
that the resolution authorizing the work on the testing strip, be changed
from the location on Maple street to the City Park property on north thirdf
with the recinding of the previous action. '
A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell
that the Clerk call for bids on a concrete slab at the city park. Motion
carried.
A:motion was made by councilman McGibbon and seconded by councilman Tucker
that the money which was left over from the Dayton street Outfall be used
for Automobile testing station at the City park. Motion carried.
A' motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell
that the alley #etween Third & fourth in back of eon Phillips property
be blaektopped,on the 40/60% basis. Councilman siefert made an amendement
to the motion to turn this over to the street committee.. ii. vote of the
council showed the council was not in favor of doing this work.
A°motion was made by councilman Tucker and weconded by councilman McGibbon
that the street committee investigate the sidewalk adjoining the Phillips
property and R-ichard.Brown property and to report to the council as to
what can be done. Motion carried.

Councilman Maxwell asked to have the black -top repaired on Ninth :venue
South.
The 'street Supt. was authorized to add more gravel to the.street at the
foot) of Bell street upon a complaint made by Mr. Thayer.

The'.water collectors report was read.. A motion was made. by councilman
Modinness and seconded by councilman Clausen that. the bills which were
approved by the -Auditing oom4:itt,ee be allowed and warrants be drawn on
they proper funds.' Motion carried.
A letter. was read to the Counoil in,, regards- to "the, motor for the boo.st,er
pump in. South. Edmon� s- , which was burned ..out. A- motion was made by council-
man Maxwell and seconded by councilman Waggoner that this be referred for
the water committee.. . Motion carried.
The Clerk reported she had received the approval from the state Finance.
`Committee for tI ' using of the balance of money from the Dayton street
sewer outfalD a State autobobile Testing Station.
Noibids have been received for the testing station or for gounds for a
garbage dump.
Mayor Fourtner expressed his thanks to the people for their co-operation
during his term of office.
Pail McGibbon was sworn in to the office of Mayor by attorney Holte.
Mayor ,McGibbon sworn in Mrs Anita.Buseh for City Clerk, Ernie Vollin for
Councilman at large, T. M. Tucker, councilman First ward, Audrey Engels
councilman second Ward, and Claude Savage,as councilman Third ward.
Mayor McGibbon made "J following appointments, Street, light-& sewer
committee, McGinness, Chairman, Savage and Maxwell. Water committee
Tuciker, chairman, Engels and Waggoner. Safety commit. -Gee, Maxwell,
chairman, Engels, & Vollan, Chief of Police.& fire Chief. .Park Committee
Cleve Little, chairman, Max Meyring and Waggoner. Auditing committee,
Vollan, Tucker and Waggoner. Finance committee, Mayor ;McGibbon, Womer,
Medinness, Maxwell, Vollan and Busch. Appointments for Police Judge
Hay H. Doty and Water collector, Anita Busch.
Councilman Maxwell recommended James Astell for the V ire Chief. Mayor
McGibbon appointed Astell for Fire Chief. k vote bf thanks was extended
to !Mat. Engels for his faithful service to the City of Edmonds.
An application for a liquor license for the Polar Bear utdlara. Class H
was turned over to the attorney for investigation and referred to the sa:fety
committee, and the clerk was asked to notify the Liquor Board for thtaty
days to make the. investigation, by a motion made by councilman Tucker and
seconded by councilman McGinness. Motion carried.
A letter was read from Union Oil Co., in which they ask for the extending
ofjthe. four inch water main south of our present water main along Yost
Admiral Way. This was referred to the water committee by a motion made
by councilman MoGinness and seconded by councilman raggoner. Motion
carried.
Attorney Holte reported it would cost approximately $200 to get title report
Irk' cj/� for the Strtht& ad4bhning the North & south city limits. A
mo ion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Waggoner
that the street committee find•out all they possible can in regards to
this. Motion carried.
A motion was =. de by councilman Waggoner and seconded by councilman
McGinnese that the Mayor appoint a committee for the preparing of a
building and fire code and to be reported on at the Janubry 18 meeting.
Motion carried. Mayor McGibbon appointed Fire Chief, Vollan and Waggoner.
Mr4l Dawson came before the council in regards to a water line along Daley
street from seventh to Eight street and to have the street put to grade.
A motion .was made by councilman McGinness and seconded by ,councilman Tucker
that these be referred to the street and water committee for future devel-,
opment. Motioncarried.
