The Council met for the regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll call
showed the following councilmen present Vollan, Tucker, McGinness Maxwell and Savage.
This mas the night set for the heating on the annexation of the Yost First Addition
D� to the City of Edmonds. The Attorney stated he had checked the signatures for the
�- annexation of the property, which showed more than 75% of the assessed valuation had
been signed for,also the legal notices had been published and posted. A motion was
made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Savage that this annexation be
accepted and Ordinance No. 600 be published. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the
petition for the annexation of the Kellog Plat be checked by the attorney, and the .
hearing be set for May 2, and the legal publication be made. Motion carried.
Five bids were received for the purchase of pipe.. The bid from H. D. Fowler Co.,
was for Century Asbestos cement pipe, the 6inch pipe including one coupling for
$1.25 per foot, the 8 inch for 1.82 per foot. The bid from Hugh G. Purcell for 6 inch
pipe, f.o.b. Edmonds on the job or stock $1.375, f.o.b..cars Edmonds 1..364, f.o.b.
dock Seattle, 1.327. The eight inch pipe delivery to Edmonds by truck to job or stock
pile, $2.008, f.o.b. cars Edmonds 1.991. f.o.b. Dock Seattle, 1935• Delivery to be made
45 to 60 days. Pacific Water Works Supply Co., 6 inch pipe 1.31 f.o. b. dock Seattle,
1.35 f.o.b. cars, Edmonds, and 1.36 f.o. b. stockpile or trench site edmonds. Eight
inch pipe 1.92 f.o.b. dock Seattle. 1.975 f.o.b. cars, Edmonds, 1.995 f.o.b. stockpile of
trenchsite, Edmonds. American Cast Iron Pipe,. 8 inch pipe test -coated fob stock pipe
edmonds 2.01, fob dock Seattle, 1.93; 6 inch stock pipe Edmonds 1.378, fob dock
Seattle 1325 delivery in approx. 70 days. The bid from Pacific States Iron Pipe
8 inch pipecement lineddfob cars,Seattle or Edmonds 1.94, 6 inch 1.33, fob stock pipe
Edmonds 8 inch 1.98 and 6 inch 136. shipment to be made in a week or ten days.
A motion was made by Councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that we
accept the bid from Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe cc, with the option of type of
delivery. Motion carried.
A motion was mdde by councilman Maxwell and sscinded by councilman Savage that vie accept
the revised plat of Homeland Drive for a 35 foot street with a fiue foot sidewalk on one
side, the City to maintain the sewer and water. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Vollan and seconded by councilman7f*W that the American
Legion be given permission to use the City Park for the Fourth of July celebration and
the booth be redecorated. Motion carried.
Appraisals were read for the two pieces of property $850 for the Willaims property and
$966 for the Pakkala property plus the sewer assessment. A motion was made by councilman
Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that the Hedges property be notified by our
Attorney that condemnation proceedings are tobe started for a 60 foot right of way.
Motion carried.
The opening of Second street from Edmonds to the Hedges property was referred to the
Street committee for re -survey.
A motion was made by councilman Savage and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the
purchase of the William and Pakkala property be paid from the street fund out of
money budgeted for new con struction. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman McGinness that we accept
the new well of 300 gallons per minute and Tyr. Jannsen is to drill another well, subject to
the approval of the State -Health department, he is to be given an extension of time of 120
days. Mr. Jannsen to be paid 5100 as a compromise and the contract is to be re written.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the water
department make the construction of the eight inch line as outlined by the water committee'
Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker that we purchase the Yost 40 acres for park purposes
and we pay $1000 down on it. No second
A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that we ask the
Yost Estate for a 30 day extension of time. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Savage that Ordinance
No. 600 be adopted and published; for the annexation of Yost's First Addition to the City
of Edmonds. Motion carried.
