in which he has received a letter from the State Health Department stating the
the City can use the water from shell Creek for one year, samples of water must
besent in to their office twice monthly, and that we are to go ahead with the
development of this water through under ground source. He also stated the meter fees
should be raised to ap55 and $115, that the discount should be lowered to 25 $ and
the sprinkling rate should be 150 for this year.'.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Engels to change
the rebate from 50Z to 25$ for the two month period. A vote on the motion showed
two.yes and three no.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker that the 50¢ rebate be removed from the
water bills, with a second from Councilman Maxwell.. Motion'carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker andseconded by councilman M&—%nvell that the
meter installation rate be raised to 4y,55 in,the city limits and U15 outside the
city limits. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Engels that the
dprinkling rate be set for 150 per 100 Cu.. Ft. over the minimum of 800 Cu. Ft.
Motion carried.

The Council met for its regular session with Mayor McGibbon presiding. The roll
call showed the following councilmen present,Tucker, Tuson, Vollan, Holmquist,
Engles and Maxwell.
Letters were read to the council asking:for the vacating of Tpnt�uAvbhuee$outh of
Sprague street to the alley, one from Union Oil Co., in regards to signs, one
from the Mayor of Everett in regards to Civil Defense, and Mayor McGibbon reported
that the P. U. D. is willing to pay a 1%,1.0,ccupatiom tax, these Vere ref(Frred
to the different committees for action.
Ittorney Holte reported that the Port District is willing to fix up 'the 'beach
property with tables for picnics also to take over the lease on the beach property
cat the North City limits. These were.referredto the park board for consideration.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the
amendment to the code to discontinue giving the 500 discount and to raise the fee
for installing meters from 40 to '55 and from y'100 to ti'115 for outside the city,
be adopted and published. Motion.carried.
A motion was made b y'councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that
thefee of $35 be paid -for engineering of the Marshall sewer. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the
petition for vacating Tenth Avenue south of Sprague street bedenied. Motion carried.
it was recommended by the streetcommittee that no further dirt be taken from A�cYeV
Alder street between fifth and sixth Avenue except by the City.
A motion was made by councilman Maxwell -and seconded by councilman Engels that the
Attorney draw up anal ordinance prohibiting automatic cigarette machines in places where
minors are allowed. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that the City
co-operate with the county request on the per capita basis of 500 for civil'Defense.'
Motion carried.
A motion was. made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Holmquist that due
to, the high cost of living the two regular policemenwork the days of the relief patrol-
man and be paid for the extra time, not to exceed the amount budgeted. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the
water Supt. and Asst. be paid $1.37 per hour for four hours Saturday and Sunday for
standby time, shared by.the two men) if he is capable, beginning May 1. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Maxwell and seconded by councilman Tucker that a four inch
main be.installed when possible to do so, on Eighth avenue. between Bell and Edmonds Streets
no hydrant to be installed at.this time. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tucker and seconded by councilman Maxwell that the attorney
draw up an Ordinance in regards to the P. U. D. paying a c ' tion tax of 1% to the City.
Motion carried.
