mission be granted for Jehovah Witness to erect a banner across Fifth avenue but
he must comply with the State Highway and City regulations on regards to the heighth.

three companies umping into our sewer be notified that we are canceling our agreement

A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Talen that permission
be given to install the sewer in the plat of View Manor, under the supervision of the
Engineer Reid, the cost including manhole and other appurtenances to be assumed by
the owner, in lieu of $200 hook an charge, due to the fact it exceeds the cost of the adjoining
L. I. D. Motion carried.

The Council met for its regular session with Mayor Maxwell presiding. The roll
call showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Talen, Kincaid, Cloud, Bishop
and Sommerseth.
The water collectors report was read to the Council.
A motion was ,made by Couhcilman Kincaid and seconded by councilman Talen that the
bil
ls which were approved by the auditing committee be allowed and warrants be drawn
on the proper funds. Motion carried.
Engineery Reid reported on a preliminary plat adjacent to our water shed, had been
approved by the County Commissioners. A motion was made by Councilman Tuson and seconded
by Councilman Bishop that Attorney Holte write to the,County Commissioners stating
the the City of Edmonds is opposed to this plat, also that we were not notified'of
said hearing, and that we request a final approval of the plat. Motion carried.
Engineer Reid also reported that Mr. King is planning on raising the grade at tenth
and Daley street one foot.

Councilman Tuson reported on the-repaiting of the roof of the library building,
stating that the Independent Sheet metal Corporation had given him a price of'$475
as stated in their letter of July 1, the work to be completed within 30 days, this
w as made a motion by Councilman Tuson with a second from Councilman Kincaid.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman Kincaid that
"Attorney Holte be authorized`o set up a General Obligation Bond issue for $8000.00
Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Kincaid and secondedby councilman Talen that the
preliminary plat (Homeland Pilt #2) be accepted and forwarded to the Planning Commission
for approval. Motion carried.
A.motion was made by councilman Tuson and Secondedby councilman Sommerseth That -Attorney
Hol.te write a letter to Max Meyring requesting his presence at the Council meeting
August 21 in regards to his building at Seventh Pc dayton street. Motion carried.

department call for bids for 500 feet of 8 inch Cast Iron pipe, class 150, out of stock.,
Bids to be opened August 2. Motion carried.

July 19, 1955
The Council met for its regular session with Mayor Maxwell presiding. The roll call
showed the following councilmen present Tuson, Talen, Kincaid, Cloud, Bishop and
Sommerseth.
A petition for annexation of property along Boraddin way was read to the Council
and referred to the Attorney for checking.
This was the night set for the hearing on the improvement of Sprague street, L. I. D.
# 75. -.Onn protest was received asking to have lot 32 in Block 81 taken out of the
improvement as this piece'of property would not be benefitted by the improvement.
A motion was made by councilman Bishop and'seconded by councilman Sommerseth that lot
32 in block 81 be excluded for the L. I. D. and ordinance # 663 be passed. Motion was
recinded.
A motion was made by councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman Tuson that the City
assume the cost of excavation, drainage and street barracade, for L. I. D..#75. Motion
carried, Councilman Cloud voted no.
A'motion was made by councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman, Sommerseth to exclude lot
32 Block 81 from the L. I. D.V�iso the grading 0. leveling, storm sewers and appertenances,
and ordinance no 663 be passed. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Talen and seconded by Councilman Kincaid to let the
Odd Fellow Building be used for a cabinet shop, they can establish a'a display room
separate from the cabinet shop, to be situated/front of the building. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Talen and seconded by councilman Sommerseth to use
the Edmonds Feed Store for a cabinet shop. Motion did not carry.
A motion tivas made by councilman Kihcaid and seconded by councilman Talen that the park
bills, as approved by the additing committee be paid. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Cloud that bids be opened
August 16, for the i4provement of Sprague Street, L. I. D., 75. notion carried.
Councilman Tuson reported a bid was received for the repair of the library steps in the
amount of $660.
A motion .vas made by counciLnan Talen and seconded by councilman Sommerseth that a
crosswalk be established on the west side of the alley between fourth and Fifth Avenue
on'Main street. Motion carried.
A motion was made by councilman Tuson and seconded by councilman Kincaid that Fire
Chief James Astell-be given the free phone, as there is one available. Motion carried.
